APPLICATION FOR SCHENGEN VISA
Persons wishing to obtain a Schengen visa should request an appointment at the consulate
of Malta, at Sciara Bin Omar (Off Sciara Garaba), Ben Ashour Area, Tripoli, on
telephone numbers: - 021 360 2415, 021 3623211 or 021 360 4796 or email: -
visa.tripoli@gov.mt.
Applicants, who go to the consulate without appointment, or on a different day from the
one when their appointment has been scheduled, will not be admitted into the visa
servicing office.
The time for appointments is between 0900 – 1300 hrs every day from Sunday to
Thursday.
When applicants go for their appointment they need to bring with them the relevant
documentation as detailed below
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS FOR ENTRY VISAS
• VALID PASSPORT – Validity of not less than 3 months.
• APPLICATION FORM – Compiled providing all required details.
• 2 PASSPORT SIZE-PHOTOGRAPHS – In colour against a light background; face should
show chin, nose, cheekbones, eyebrows and forehead clearly visible;
• VALID TRAVEL INSURANCE COVERAGE CERTIFICATE valid throughout all Schengen
Member States to be provided upon approval of visa application.
• VISA FEE [Please see applicable rates as per current Price List]
Applicants are to have funds for the duration of their stay in Malta.
The Consulate reserves the right to request supplementary documents if needed.
The above General Requirements apply for all visa applications.
REQUIREMENTS RELATIVE TO SPECIFIC PURPOSE OF TRAVEL
1. For journeys undertaken for the purpose of TOURISM or for PRIVATE VISIT:
• Proof of travel and accommodation (i.e.: return ticket, hotel reservation or confirmation
from the person hosting in Malta)
2. For BUSINESS TRIPS:
• an invitation from a Maltese firm or authority to attend meetings, conferences or events
connected with trade, industry or work; and
• Declaration of Proof to accompany the invitation and/or
• other document/s which show the existence of trade relations or relations for work
purposes; and/or

• other document/s proving the business activities of the company from the Malta-Libya
Chamber of Commerce or the Malta Arab Chamber of Commerce or any other
designated Chamber of Commerce, from time to time; and/or
• document/s proving the applicant’s employment [status/situation] in the company; and/or
• other proof to the satisfaction of the issuing officer
3. For journeys undertaken for the purpose of STUDY or other types of TRAINING:
• A certificate of enrolment at a training institute for the purpose of attending vocational or
theoretical courses in the framework of basic and further training, certifying that applicant
has been accepted for training or a course, confirming duration and accommodation
4. For journeys undertaken for POLITICAL, SCIENTIFIC, CULTURAL, SPORTS or
RELIGIOUS EVENTS or other reasons:
• Invitations, entry tickets, enrolments or programmes stating wherever possible the name
of the host organization and the length of stay or any other appropriate documents
indicating purpose of visit
5. For journeys undertaken for MEDICAL reasons:
• Letter from medical organization certifying that the applicant is to undergo medical
treatment in Malta
6. For journeys undertaken in connection with DEATH/SERIOUS INJURY OF IMMEDIATE
NEXT OF KIN:
• Statement about the case, issued by ANY of the following:
The Maltese authorities;
The Libyan authorities;
The medical organization, and
The medical doctor
