Academics: 7th Highest API at LAUSD (trad.) High Schools (741),
Extensive Advanced Placement Program, School for Advanced
Studies/Honors classes. Many highest achieving athletes in CIF every
season. Athletics: Nearly every CIF LA sanctioned sport, many league
champions. Arts: Comprehensive Visual and Performing Arts program
including art, drama, music, and dance. Community: Strong ties to
Sunland/Tujunga community including internship opportunities.

Verdugo Hills High School provides a rigorous,
standards-based instructional program that meets the
diverse needs of all students, supported by classroom
instruction that encourages collaboration and communication
and where all stakeholders experience a
sense of accomplishment and community.
Verdugo has implemented school-wide small learning
communities and operates three SLCs (Humanitas,
Visual and Performing Arts, Health, Fitness, and Biomedical
Careers, and a magnet center (digital media).

12 years
Academic Performance Index (API) for 2011
was 741, 7th highest in LAUSD (traditional high
schools)
Gifted/Talented/School for Advanced Studies
(SAS) program, extensive AP program
Verdugo was 187th of all California schools in
Washington Post’s 2012 High School Challenge
Students accepted and graduate from top universities
in the country including Berkley, Stanford,
USC, UCLA, Notre Dame, and many more.

We believe in building community both on and off campus.
Students are supported:
Small learning communities host reward assemblies, intervention
conferences, social events, & student-centered activities.
Extensive supports from Peer Mentors to CAHSEE Prep Classes,
to a Test Prep program and tutoring in all departments.
Many clubs meeting the social and academic needs of a diverse
student population.
The Student Leadership Class sponsors:
Activities and events throughout the year focused on service
including blood drives, and events/donation programs to local
schools such as Dr. Seuss Day.
Students participate in several programs in the community:

Bolton Hall Museum & Voice of the Village Newspaper
Students also perform for local schools on a regular basis and
host a Jr. Cheer, Football, and Glee Camp in the summer for local
elementary and middle school students.
