Background
The Indian Meteorological Society (IMS) was formed
in 1956 during one of the sessions of Indian Science
Congress in Kolkata. The Society aims at working
towards advancement of meteorological and allied
sciences in all their aspects. Dissemination of
knowledge of such sciences among the scientific
workers and the public and application of
meteorology and allied sciences is another set of its
activities. Regular lectures, meetings, and symposia
are arranged to promote cooperation in scientific
work and to foster common interests in the field of
meteorology.
Meteorology contributes immensely to the safety of
life and property, protection of the environment
and, thus, for the socio-economic development of
the nations. Hence, ”Meteorology for Socioeconomic
Development” has been chosen as the
special theme for TROPMET-2011.

Papers are invited on the following themes:

Hyderabad.
A soft copy of the abstract of the paper, indicating
the theme and not exceeding 1000 words may be
sent by email in MS Word format (Office 97 or
higher) before October 31, 2011. Acceptance for
both oral and poster presentations will be
communicated through email by November 15, 2011.
Accommodation and Transport
Accommodation will be arranged at local hotels and
guest house as per the entitlement of the delegates.
Travel support is limited to train (3-AC) for retired
members with no institutional attachments and for
students. Local transport from hotel to the venue will
be arranged.
Registration
IMS members: 1000 Non-IMS members: 2000
Students: 600 Foreign nationals: 5000
Registration fee is to be sent along with the
registration form through demand draft/pay order in
favour of “Indian Meteorological Society, Hyderabad
Chapter” payable at Hyderabad. There is no
registration fee for Honorary Fellows and Fellows of
the Society.
About Hyderabad
Hyderabad, the capital of Andhra Pradesh, is often
called the North of South India and the South of
North India, and the city reflects the vibrant culture
of both these Indias! Hyderabad has a glorious
history of over 400 years. When you arrive in
December, the day temperatures could be around 28
degrees celsius and the nights around 14 degrees
celsius.
