Congratulations to our new Hall of Fame members Gayle Bennett, Bette Morris, Tommy Bennett, Roger Hobson,
and Sidney (Buster) Peele. The Perpetual Board hosted a great party at Highland Country Club. As usual there was a
great turnout with many past and present members in attendance. It looked to me that the party was a great success
with many folks enjoying each other's company.
The Shag Contest committee is busy making final preparations for the Fluff Daddy Shag Contest scheduled
for July 12-13. This will be a great time to dance, watch some great competitive shaggers, and help support the ALS
Foundation. Doors will open at 7:00pm both nights. The entry fee is $5.00 each night. Friday night consists of the
Newcomers and Amateur Division. If you have ever thought about dancing in a contest, this is your chance. The
Newcomer Division is for Non-Competitive Association dancers like you and me. The Newcomers Division is scheduled
to start at 8:30pm with the Amateur Division starting around 9:30.. The Novice and Pro Divisions dance Saturday
starting beginning around 8:00pm.
Many of us went to the SamCo party Friday, June 28th at the Coharie Country Club in Clinton. The SamCo
Shag Club is the vision of John Bradshaw and DJ Joey Warren. This new Shag Club is off to a great start. I hope you
all will consider supporting them in September when they change their party nights to the first Friday of each
month.
Don't forget that we also have a party Friday July 26th. Ray McLaurin and his committee are hosting the
party. A Ray McLaurin Party is an event you do not want to miss.
