Artwork Artwork Specs 2011 media kit What is a PDF Short for portable document format, a PDF captures formatting information from a variety of creative applications, making it possible to send formatted documents and have them appear on the recipient’s monitor or printer as they were intended. To view a file in PDF format you need Adobe Reader, a free application that can be downloaded from adobe.com Fonts • We do not accept TrueType or CID fonts. Use postscript fonts or create font to onlines. • All fonts must be embedded. • Type size must not be below 7pt or 8pt for reversed type. Colour • All material must use CMYK colour space. • Convert spot and PMS colours to process colours (CMYK). • Black type should be process black only. • Total ink weight should not exceed 340% and allow for a 12-18% dot gain. *Converting PMS to process may alter colour. Special and 5th colour printing can be arranged at additional cost. Prices on request. Images • CMYK • 300dpi at 100% print size • Format - JPEG, TIFF or EPS Document • All transparencies must be flattened. • All live copy must be kept inside type area (see artwork dimensions). • Bleed must be set to 5mm each edge • Trim marks only must be included. Trim offset to 10mm. Do not include registration marks. Double Page Spread Artwork • Must be supplied as two separate files (LHP and RHP) • Avoid running type across the gutter. Headings that need to run across the gutter, please allow 4mm clearance on both pages. In-house production • Bean Media Group offers a complete in-house design service. The cost for this service is $790+GST, which includes the advertisement being copied onto disc and also emailed for future use within any of the Australia’s Best publications. • All in-house designed artwork is sent to client for approval. • A maximum of three authors’ corrections are included in the artwork service. Further corrections may incur additional cost. Supplying press-ready artwork • Please ensure finished artwork is supplied as a high resolution (300dpi) PDF with 5mm bleed each edge, trim marks (offset to 10mm) and complies with the other specifications on this page. Delivery of material Press-ready artwork can be supplied either: • Email: Please email artwork@beanmedia.com.au - please keep file size under 10MB. • FTP: If file size is larger than 10MB please send file via a web based FTP site called yousendit. It’s free and easy to use. 1. Log onto www.yousendit.com.au 2. Either send it using the ‘Send a file’ box or sign up for the ‘Lite’ account which allows free file sending up to 100MB. 3. Incorrectly supplied artwork • We will not accept artwork created in any MICROSOFT program or PDFs generated from these programs. Images embedded in Word documents are not acceptable. • Artwork supplied incorrectly will either result in resupplying it correctly or our design team amending the artwork to suit and the client being charged accordingly. FULL PAGE A4 DOCUMENT SET UP SIZE 210mm (wide) x 297mm (high) + 5mm bleed each edge. • Please ensure that all text and non-bled images fall inside the image width/height to ensure that they don’t get cut off or interfere with the bind or trim. • 5mm bleed is required to each edge with trim marks.
