Trade fair innovation at the OutDoor:
the new pro footwear line from SALEWA
SALEWA introduced its first mountain boot collection in 2007 – and with great success. The Approach line in particular
succeeded in setting new standards in the outdoor field. The time has now come for the Oberalp Group
to take a new challenge and enter the segment which is most technical and important for the company’s image:
alpinism on rock and ice. With the ‘PRO GAITER’ and ‘PRO GUIDE’ models, the South Tyrol mountain sports specialist
seeks to revolutionise a conservative segment and is offering the first fully crampon-compatible mountain
boot with a rigid sole. At the same time, the sole becomes soft for the lighter passages and the approach, thanks
to a patent. The Pro line sets itself apart with 2-in-1 mountain boots for alpinism and is intended for mountain
guides, mountain rescue teams, alpinists and ice climbers.

Thanks to the patented flex system, the sole’s rigidity can be
adjusted from flexible to absolutely stiff with just a touch of the
control positioned on the heel. This gives climbers a comfortable
and flexible sole for the approach, while during climbing it
is rigid and precise, with or without crampons.
Studies were conducted on the feet as well as on the requirements
of alpinists, mountain guides and climbers in order to
determine the special shape of the Pro line boots. This involves
the anatomical shape of the last, with an integrated support
and an asymmetrical point of the foot. Two concepts which
were adopted from the world of climbing boots and guarantee
extreme precision and performance during the climbing phase.
A final unique concept on the market is that both models are
available in different designs. The first design – ‘Performance
Fit’ – is intended for the majority of alpinists and is distinguished
by its precision. The second - ‘Insulated Plus Fit’ – is ideal
for alpinists who have broader feet or required better thermal
insulation. More space in the point of the foot means more
freedom of movement and thus better blood circulation.

The Pro line consists of the
following two products:
PRO GAITER
A boot for alpinists for all four seasons, technical mixed routes as well
as for ice climbing.
A product which is indispensable for all mountain guides and experienced
alpinists. The gaiter is watertight and extremely robust,
thanks to the use of Superfabric. In conjunction with the Thinsulate
B400 lining, it provides maximum thermal insulation. The patented
flex system for adjusting the sole and the anatomical shape with
asymmetrical profile make the PRO GAITER the ideal companion on
high alpine terrain, technical mixed routes and on the ice.
PRO GUIDE
A boot for alpinists for all four seasons. Its field of application ranges
from mixed tours and ice climbing to the classic western Alp route.
The classic-design boot with a 3mm-thick upper made of Perwanger
leather is also equipped with Gore-Tex® Duratherm XL insulation.
The durability is combined with innovative technologies such as the
sole’s patented flex system, the anatomical shape of the last and the
asymmetrical profile of the boot’s point
