History of www.Globalization101.org
The website was developed in 2000 by academics
and practitioners at the Center for Strategic
and International Studies. The site moved to
the Carnegie Endowment for International
Peace in 2006 and then joined The Levin
Institute, a freestanding institute within the
State University of New York (SUNY) system.
G101 and Levin
The Levin Institute acquired G101 in the Fall of 2007 to
provide an on line platform for Levin's programs. Levin
intends to use the site as a teaching/learning resource
for students and executives and will further develop
the content with the addition of videos, interviews, and
interactive capabilities.
Opportunities for Faculty
The Levin Institute is inviting faculty to serve as guest
bloggers and commentators on G101. These blogs provide
a vehicle for professors to discuss their research and
ideas about global issues with students, other academics,
business and non-profit leaders, and government officials
from around the world.
Levin is also inviting faculty to engage in focus group
discussions on ways to improve the site, add new content,
and to integrate the site into related course curricula.

syllabi providing ideas and concrete examples of how the site’s
content can be used in the classroom
• Useful Links to a broad range of original
a wiki promoting articles and research
by academics and practitioners
articles with students and G101 users
Endorsements from the field
I teach a course to graduate students (mostly
teachers) on Global Education and will surely
make use of the very, very comprehensive web
site! It’s one of the best I’ve come across...
— Elaine Haglund, Professor
California State University
Using your website gives my students real life
effect activities in globalization and pulls them
into world problem solving in a way that would
have taken me all semester to do on my own.
Thank you for allowing us the use of your
research…
— Heidi Marie Connor
Adjunct Faculty-English Composition I and II
Colorado Technical University
I really enjoyed teaching the course [“Global
Civilization”] and your material was extremely
helpful... I will be teaching the course again and
plan to omit the textbook, relying more on the use
of online materials through your Website and
through the news media… According to the students,
this survey on globalization provided them with a
general understanding of global issues to the point
where many want to delve deeper.
— Marina Cunningham, Executive Director
Global Education Center
Montclair State University
I used the site for research. The site made it
easy to find and use short briefs and clear,
student-friendly vocabulary. I will definitely use
this site again.
Franklin High School, Oregon
