LANDSCAPE DESIGN CONSULTANTS COUNCIL<br />

GRANTS FOR PROJECTS<br />

VFGC Landscape Design Consultants Council is again <strong>of</strong>fering grants for VFGC<br />

member garden club sponsored projects. These are worth applying for! Please pass<br />

on this information. Grants <strong>of</strong> $150.00 each will be given to the 3 best entries.<br />

Rules for Applying<br />

• The project does not have to be finished, but should be in progress<br />

• Prepare a book <strong>of</strong> evidence in a 9 x 12 folder<br />

• Include a Title Page (download title page from VFGC website--must include<br />

Project Name; <strong>Garden</strong> Club; District; City/County; Club President Name,<br />

Address and E-mail; Project Chairman Name, Address and E-mail)<br />

• Application must be submitted by April 16, 2012<br />

• Winners will be announced at the 2012 VFGC Member Meeting<br />

Judging Criteria<br />

IMPORTANCE OF PROJECT 20%<br />

In terms <strong>of</strong> need and total impact or benefit to the community<br />

START OF AND ANTICIPATED DATE OF COMPLETION 10%<br />

ORGANIZATION OF THEME BINDER 20%<br />

Contents should tell a story <strong>of</strong> the current year’s program. If available,<br />

include before and after photos, drawings, any newspaper clippings,<br />

letters and other relevant information<br />

LIST COST OF PLANT MATERIAL USED 20%<br />

EXTENT OF PARTICIPATION 10%<br />

Involvement <strong>of</strong> clubs/club members through work, gifts, etc.<br />

DEGREE OF PERMANENCE 20%<br />

Lasting effects <strong>of</strong> project on the community, provisions for maintenance<br />

Suggestions for possible projects<br />

1. Public or Semi Public Buildings: Construction or improvement to grounds or<br />

gardens at hospitals, nursing homes, shelters, schools, churches, libraries, etc.<br />

2. Recreation: Outdoor classrooms, play areas, mini-parks, picnic area, gardens,<br />

vacant lot, location used by teachers for instruction or other public areas seen<br />

used by public but not necessarily attached to a specific building or road.<br />

3. Highways and Median Strips: Entrance to city, neighborhoods, boulevards,<br />

drainage ditches, curbs and gutters, beautification, tree planting, safe walkways,<br />

etc.<br />
