DINING NEWS & GOSSIP
A Month of Anniversaries
September 9 marks a whole 10 years of Brasserie Flo in the capital. To celebrate
(and keep improving into the next decade), the restaurant has invited
Michelin-starred Chef Daniel Chambon to become Flo’s long-term culinary
consultant, update the food and introduce a new seasonal tasting menu, available
for ¥388. September 11 and 16 are the two-and four-year anniversaries
of Sake Manzo’s two branches, and both will have dining events and promotions
on Japanese liquors. On September 13, Mosto will celebrate its one-year
anniversary, offering a six-course tasting menu for ¥350 until the end of the
month—a great way to sample Chef Daniel Urdaneta’s phenomenal cooking.
Lastly, September 18 is Indian Kitchen’s five-year anniversary. In other news,
the eagerly anticipated Capital M will finally open up on Qianmen pedestrian
street on September 15. I recently caught up with M’s Executive Chef Rob
Cunningham, who told me about his love for Beijing’s produce, menu offerings
including gold-flaked chocolate cake and the restaurant’s view over the
Forbidden City. Check out everything he has to say in next issue’s Person
of the Moment interview. Lastly, in our August 20 issue’s dining column, we
raved about the Bubbalicious Brunch but mistakenly wrote that
it takes place at the Westin Beijing Financial Street. In fact,
the Bubbalicious Sunday Brunch is hosted by the Westin
Beijing Chaoyang, and the InspiRED Bubbly Sunday Brunch
is at the Westin Beijing Financial Street. You can find details
for both superlative buffets below.
