SISIP marks 40 years of service

SISIP Financial Services marked
its 40th anniversary of service to
the CF on Friday, December 4.
In the lobby of S90 at Stadacona,
and at a parallel event in the HQ
building at 12 Wing, SISIP staff met
with wellwishers for cake, coffee,
and to share information about the
jobs they do.
At S90, Capt(N) John Newton,
Base Commander CFB Halifax, told
Jim Boylan, a financial planner with
SISIP, “This is our chance to tell you
that we appreciate the work you do...
You’re the ones who help people in
transition and help bring meaning
back into their lives. Your work has
more value now than ever.”
Boylan thanked Capt(N) Newton
and said “We hope to keep on with
this work and to build on our
successes.”

as a DND entity 40 years ago,
SISIP FS has grown to encompass
18 offices on bases, wings and

to Boylan, SISIP professionals
range from financial counsellors
and planners to vocational rehabilitation
counsellors.
SISIP FS provides the CF community
with financial planning, counseling
and financial management
education, term life and disability
insurance including the Vocational
Rehabilitation Program and the CF
Personnel Assistance Fund (CFPAF)
financial assistance through loans
and grants, all to help improve the
financial wellbeing and quality of
life of CF members and families.
SISIP supports many local morale
and welfare events and programs
such as the March 1st, I Quit! Challenge,
and contributed $192,700 to
CFB Halifax in the last year.

Office (FPSO) held a
SCAN Seminar from November
17 to 19, 2009 at the Dartmouth
Sportsplex and hosted
over 400 members of MAR-
LANT and their spouses The
seminar is designed to provide
career transition information
to military members
who are contemplating retirement
from the CF. Presentations
ranged from the administrative
aspects of release, to
financial planning and pensions
benefits, to education
reimbursement. All the presentations
