Bishops Close
New Eltham, London
moat

moat
Moat provides specialist accommodation for older people in a variety of sheltered
schemes. Each scheme has 24 hour emergency care alarm cover. Support is provided
to residents according to their individual needs.
Sheltered housing provides older residents with a comfortable, manageable and secure
home of their own: preserving their privacy, dignity and independence, whilst giving
them ready access to additional support when they need it.
The support co-ordinator maintains daily contact with residents. They help to organise
a whole range of additional services to ensure that residents can stay in their
accommodation for as long as they wish.
About the scheme
Situated in New Eltham, Bishops Close is a sheltered housing scheme within a private
close and is very quiet. It has beautiful gardens which are tended by gardeners and
some of the tenants. There are three buildings that form the scheme and they are;
Keith Sutton House, Mervyn Stockwood House and Michael Marshall House.
About the properties
Bishops Close has 43 homes in total. These are made up of 18 x one bedroom
apartments and 25 studio apartments. Each home has its own bathroom and kitchen.
The communal lounge is in Michael Marshall House. There is also a communal kitchen
and gardens.
Local facilities and social activities
New Eltham has a variety of shops, greengrocers and butchers and the supermarket is
only a short walk away. A post office is also very nearby.
There is a good bus service and the railway station is about a five minute walk away.
The library is very close and various activities and facilities can be accessed there,
such as craft shows, internet access and talks on different subjects. There are various
places of worship in the local area.
Bingo and social evenings are just some of the activities that take place within the
scheme throughout the year. Residents are encouraged to get involved in all of these.
