Dear Community Member,
Thank you for your interest in the Language Tutoring Program. This free
program is designed to connect Salem community members interested in
learning about Japanese language and culture with exchange students
studying at Tokyo International University of America. All skill levels
and ages are welcome! Although we occasionally have students from
countries other than Japan in our program, the majority of our students
will be Japanese language tutors.
The lesson content and specific meeting times are decided by the
“tutees”/students and their tutors (students in our American Studies
Program). Each group meets once a week for one hour here on the
Willamette/TIUA campus. Our tutors are volunteers and, while very
enthusiastic, are not professional teachers.
Included please find our Tutee Application Form, Student Interest Form
and Program Policy. To enroll in the Language Tutor Program, review
the Program Policy and then complete and return the Tutee Application
Form & Student Interest Form to the TIUA office.
The fall tutoring session will begin September 19, 2012, and ends
November 30, 2012. The application form is due September 7.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact our office. You can reach us
Monday through Friday, 8am until 5pm at (503) 373-3300 or you can email
us at ASP.language.tutors@gmail.com.
We look forward to working with you!
Sincerely,
Barby Dressler, Director
