SIX-PART CONSORTS is the theme of the VDGSNE 2012 Fall Workshop. We will explore, in
particular, the music of Alfonso Ferrabosco II and Thomas Lupo, who were members of COPRARIO'S
MUSIC, a group of composers and players employed in the households of Prince and King Charles I of
England. Other composers, John Coprario himself, Thomas Tomkins, William White and Thomas
Weelkes may also be on the list for the day. Depending upon enrollment, there may be some classes of
five players. Pre-formed ensembles of five or six players are encouraged to sign up, as are beginners of
varying levels.
Coaches for the workshop are: Jane Hershey, Laura Jeppesen, Carol Lewis, Sarah Mead and Lucy
Bardo. Anne Legêne will be available for beginners. Hannah Davidson will give an introduction to
Coprario’s Music at 9:30 and Eric Haas will be at the workshop during lunch, with offerings from the
Early Music Shop of New England.
