Neonatal Resuscitation Program
Participant Information
There have been significant changes to the Neonatal Resuscitation Program. To give
you the best opportunity to be successful at completing the NRP Program, please follow
these directions:
Prior to the on-site course:
√ Complete the online examination
How can I access the online exam
You can access the exam through the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP)
website.
Follow these steps:
1. Go to http://www2.aap.org/nrp/exam/
2. Click on “6 th Edition Online Examination”
3. Click on “First time students click here to register”
4. For “Institution” click on the drop down menu and select “1-Self Registration”
5. Fill out the General information and “Submit”
From this point, the process should be self-explanatory.
What does the online exam cover
The test covers the material in Lessons 1 – 9 of the Textbook of Neonatal
Resuscitation, 6 th Edition. The test is not difficult for learners who focus on each
lesson’s Key Points and know the correct answers to each lesson’s Review section.
Most new learners require several hours of study time.
The online test is arranged by lesson in the same order as in the textbook. The
computer scores each lesson as you submit answers. You may stop testing after a
lesson, and resume testing later.
Important things to know about the online exam
• The registration for the online exam will ask if you have designated an NRP
instructor for the in-person components of the NRP Provider Course
The answer is YES
You do not need to name the instructor
• Lessons 1 through 4 and Lesson 9 are required Lessons. Once you complete
the final required lesson, the examination is considered complete and you will
not have the opportunity to test on additional lessons. To prevent being shut
out of the examination prior to taking all the required lesson examinations
for your course, take the Lesson 9 examination last.
