Performance Specifications „LSF LIFT-SMOKE-FREE“ 

Lift shafts and machinery rooms must be ventilated and equipped with a smoke and 

heat exhaust ventilation (SHEV) system in accordance with the currently valid State 

Building Code. This purpose is served by the system LSF LIFT-SMOKE-FREE, 

described in the following, supplied by BTR Brandschutz-Technik und Rauchabzug 

GmbH, Schnackenburgallee 41 d, D-22525 Hamburg, 

Tel. ++49 (0) 40-89 71 20-0, Fax ++49 (0) 40-89 71 20-20, Internet www.lift-smokefree.de. 

In case of alarm, the lift control must be actuated by means of potential-free 

contacts. These contacts must provide the following functions: 

• SHEV alarm lift shaft 

• Disturbance 

• Smoke detector alarm first evacuation level 

Installation, commissioning and maintenance may only be performed by factory-trained 

and properly qualified personnel. It is admissible to offer products of equivalent or higher 

value. Proof must be furnished together with the offer. All required electrical wiring will 

be supplied by the builder in accordance with plans provided by the supplier. The 

required 230V mains supply, as well as the installation of the shutter, is also the 

responsibility of the builder. The supplier/installer must submit a completed installation 

certificate for acceptance purposes. In addition, operating instructions, maintenance 

manuals and a service contract offer must be handed over to the owner/operator. 

Important note: It is prohibited to install any equipment not part of the lift in the lift shaft. 

The offer must be accompanied by a statement of a neutral expert, confirming that the 

offered system does not constitute equipment that is not part of the lift installation in 

accordance with Lift Directive 95/16/EG, Article 2(3). 

The system comprises the following components: 

• central control unit with smoke intake system and main SHEV control with emergency 

power supply 

• smoke intake piping system in lift shaft 

• SHEV button as manual alarm trigger point and display 

• motor-driven shutter for installation in exterior wall of lift shaft, or 

• motor-driven domelight for installation in roof of lift shaft 

• optional installation frame for shutter window 

• optional siren 

• optional smoke detector for first evacuation level 

• optional key-operated ventilator button for shaft ventilation

1.10.1 LSF central control unit 

Central control unit with integrated VdS-approved air-sampling detector system (40 

dB(A)), including detector module and approved SHEV main control system. The system 

is supplied with emergency power by maintenance-free emergency power batteries 

2x12V, 2.2Ah. The unit is delivered ready for connection in a ventilated steel housing 

600x600x210mm. Cable inlets are provided at the top through screw-fittings. Access for 

intake pipe through push-out openings top and bottom. Terminal clamps suitable for 

wires up to 4mm2. Internal LED indicators for: 

• operation air-sampling detector system 

• alarm air-sampling detector system 

• trouble air-sampling detector system 

• operation SHEV main control 

• alarm SHEV main control 

• trouble SHEV 

• Central information LED with programming key for setting system-related variations. 

Function selection via changeable jumpers. Space for integration of test adapter. In 

ventilation mode controllable by ventilation switch or other building management 

systems.

1.10.3 Motor-driven shutter window (0.3 m 2 ) 

Shutter window with electric motor drive for the discharge of combustion gases as well 

as for ventilation purposes. Made from thermally isolated aluminum profiles with 

insulating glass. Optimal ventilation in open position and excellent heat insulation when 

closed. 3 shutters, flush with the window frame on the outside. Frame installation depth 

65mm. Elevation width of frame horizontal 20mm, vertical 40mm. Pivot bearings of 

individual shutters made from glass fiber reinforced plastic. Shutters driven via 

integrated toothed rack with drive pin. Top-mounted 24V motor with integrated electronic

1.10.4 Installation frame for shutter window (0.3 m 2 ) (optional item) 

The installation frame is used, if the shutter window can be installed from the inside in an 

existing smoke extraction opening. In this case, the shutter window does not have to be 

attached to the masonry itself. The frame is made from aluminum L profiles. If required, 

it is factory-installed on the shutter window or supplied for retrofit attachment. The 

contact flnge width is 46 mm all around. The entire assembly has a height of 250 mm. 

Flange attachment holes are provided in sufficient quantity.
