2011 is already in full swing and over the next couple<br />
of months we will be attending Professional Beauty<br />
Excel, Scottish Beauty and Beauty UK in Birmingham.<br />
Excel is going to be yet another huge show, and as<br />
well as all of our other brands, we will be showcasing<br />
the long awaited Essie Spring Collection. These<br />
shades are perfect to brush away that winter gloom,<br />
and will take us all through Spring and into Summer<br />
(see pages 8 – 9). We’ve also got some brilliant show<br />
offers for you this year, and, to help you beat the VAT<br />
increase, <strong>Louella</strong> <strong>Belle</strong> will pay it for you with a 20%<br />
discount across all products, so be sure to stock up<br />
on all of your favourites!<br />
I am also so excited for what may be our biggest ever<br />
product launch. Pioneered by celebrity manicurist<br />
Tom Bachik, I am proud to announce the launch of<br />
Artistic Colour Gloss. Tom’s resume speaks for itself<br />
and he has developed the brand, and the full range of<br />
products, based on his years of industry experience.<br />
Tom has also used his professional eye to develop 38<br />
stunning Artistic shades (yes, think Chanel). Tom will<br />
be with us at Excel to talk to you all about Artistic, and<br />
our team will be on hand to give demonstrations.<br />
This month <strong>Louella</strong> <strong>Belle</strong> have been working with<br />
the Make a Wish foundation in conjunction with<br />
Cowshed. This charity really does make children’s<br />
dreams come true and it’s great to support such<br />
a worthy cause. For more details, and to see the<br />
‘Becky’s Wish’ Polish, turn to page 6.<br />
With the new product range, new <strong>collection</strong>s and<br />
Fashion Week coming up in the next few months,<br />
I’m sure I’ll soon be writing to you all in our Summer<br />
issue, but in the mean time, I hope you all love Artistic,<br />

On February the 1st InStyle Magazine held their annual Best<br />
of Beauty Awards. These much coveted awards celebrate the<br />
best products in Skincare, Make up, Nailcare and Haircare, as<br />
voted for by their panel of 181 Industry Experts.<br />
<strong>Louella</strong> <strong>Belle</strong> attended the awards at the Mandarin<br />
Oriental Hotel, and were thrilled that Hero product Seche Vite<br />
claimed an award again this year. Hosted by the stunning, and<br />
effortlessly charming Jameela Jamil, the awards celebrated<br />
products that have revolutionised the beauty market, and<br />
Seche's recognition is a testament to the product's popularity<br />
with consumers and industry professionals alike.<br />
Manicurist to both the Minogue sisters, Edyta<br />
Rabijewska chose Essie's Fall favourite Chinchilly<br />
for the new Lexus campaign.<br />
Edyta is a big fan of the Essie brand and will be using<br />
Essie's Golden Nuggets to get Kylie's dazzling<br />
nails on her Aphrodite Les Folies tour this year.<br />

Limited Edition Essie Nail Polish in aid<br />
of Starlight Children’s Foundation<br />
February 2011 - Cowshed launches its<br />
first ever, exclusive limited edition nail<br />
polish in collaboration with Essie - with<br />
all proceeds from sales to be donated<br />
to the Starlight Children’s Foundation,<br />
a charity that brightens the lives of sick<br />
children by granting once-in-a-lifetime<br />
wishes and providing entertainment in<br />
hospitals and hospices throughout the UK.<br />
‘Becky’s Wish’ is a unique nail polish<br />
inspired by Cowshed’s collaboration<br />
with Starlight Children’s Foundation and<br />
the forthcoming Starlight: For Children<br />
series on Channel 5, celebrating the<br />
25th anniversary of this special charity.<br />
When Cowshed was approached to<br />
participate in the series and help to grant<br />
the wish of a little girl called Becky to<br />
experience a mani-pedi with her idols<br />
Holly Willoughby and Fearne Cotton at<br />
Cowshed Clarendon Cross Spa, they<br />
jumped at the chance – and immediately<br />
contacted the team at Essie to see if they<br />
could work together to make Becky’s<br />
experience even more special by creating<br />
a bespoke ‘Becky’s Wish’ polish.<br />

Cosmetics say of the collaboration:<br />
‘‘When I heard about Becky’s wish,<br />
I immediately offered to create a<br />
bespoke polish in her favourite colour<br />
- I hope she will enjoy wearing it. The<br />
best part about this collaboration is that<br />
Cowshed and Essie have committed<br />
all proceeds from sales to the Starlight<br />
Foundation. This is a truly great cause<br />
and brings a little ray of light to those<br />
who deserve it most.’ ’<br />
Starlight: For The Children will feature<br />
a mix of celebrities and extraordinary<br />
members of the public, including the<br />
charity’s own employees, doing all<br />
manner of good deeds in aid of the<br />
children they support. The 10-part<br />
funded factual entertainment series<br />
goes to air in February 2011 with film<br />
favourite Bill Nighy amongst the charity<br />
ambassadors lined up to narrate the 30<br />
minute episodes.<br />

16th February 2011 – the date Becky’s<br />

Cucumba – The Urban Pit Stop<br />
Cucumba was asked by Jonathan Lipman International<br />
Group - Talent Management PR to join them at Aquum Bar<br />
in Clapham to help create a vibe for the VIP's who were<br />
coming along to help Su-Elise celebrate the launch of her<br />
dance academy.<br />
The guest list included the likes of Strictly Come Dancing<br />
judge Alisha Dixon, Misteeq singer Su-Elise Nash, DJ<br />
Ironik, Sugababes singer Keisha and Andrew Stone of<br />
Sky One’s Pineapple Dance Studios.<br />
A great time was had by all, and the feedback from the VIPs<br />
was amazing… especially the look on Alisha Dixon's face<br />
when she spotted the Essie nail varnishes. Alisha couldn’t<br />
help gushing to the Cucumba Dream team how amazing<br />
the Essie brand is and walked away with her favourite to<br />
take home.<br />

Moisturise! It is so important, no matter what<br />
age or skin type you must protect it. Always<br />
moisturise after your daily bath/shower to lock<br />
the moisture into your skin.<br />

minute surprise weekend away! Need<br />

Jennifer Aniston looks amazing! She<br />
wears very natural make-up but always looks<br />

Footloose- It's fun, fresh, happy and always<br />
makes your toes look fab!<br />
What made you choose Essie?<br />
I chose Essie varnishes because I initially<br />
worked with them whilst working in London<br />
and thought they were fantastic. When it<br />
came to opening my own salon a year later, I<br />
researched my local area to see who stocked<br />
which nails products and fortunately no one<br />
else stocked Essie, so I was lucky enough to<br />
have them!<br />
What is the inspiration behind<br />
your salon?<br />
When I was a little girl, my Mum used to be<br />
a manicurist and I used to love having<br />
my nails painted and trying to paint hers!!<br />
Since then I knew this was something I wanted<br />
to do and it's always been<br />
my dream.<br />
Any words of wisdom for people who want<br />
to open their own salon?<br />
RESEARCH, RESEARCH, RESEARCH!! Do a<br />
business plan, carefully choose a location,<br />
check the local competition for treatments<br />
and products stocked and go for it!! It is hard<br />
work, but when your doing if for yourself it is<br />
very rewarding.<br />
