Radio Serial (1932-1947)<br />
Three years after bringing science fiction to the world of<br />
comic strips, <strong>Buck</strong> <strong>Rogers</strong> in the 25th Century became<br />
the first science fiction show on radio with its debut on<br />
CBS Radio November 7, 1932.<br />
Originating from New York and broadcast four times<br />
weekly for 15 years, from 1932 to 1947 (initially at 7:15<br />
P.M. and later moving to an earlier "children's hour”). In<br />
an era before television, the 15 minute daily<br />
episodes had a built-in audience of newspaper readers<br />
who tuned in by the millions.<br />
The <strong>Buck</strong> <strong>Rogers</strong> radio show was heavily crosspromoted<br />
by its many sponsors – Kelloggs, Cocomalt,<br />
Cream of Wheat and Popsicle.<br />
<strong>Buck</strong> <strong>Rogers</strong> will soon be back to radio in all new 30-<br />
minute radio dramas broadcast by The Colonial Radio<br />
Theater On The Air on XM Sirius Satellite Radio.<br />
