N-Comfort Thermostat Programme
The N-Comfort thermostat programme
adds a new and powerful dimension to
Nexans’ heating system portfolio.
Precise and accurate temperature control
is important to fully achieve the advantages
of floor heating without using more
electric energy than necessary. Heating
cables in combination with an accurate
thermostat are probably the most energy
efficient heating system one can have in
a modern building.
The design of the thermostat is unique, and
every detail has been carefully designed
paying special attention to aesthetic
appear ance, user-friendliness and quality,
as required and demanded by both
consumers and professional installers.
In addition to the thermostats being easy
to install and adjust, the temperature is
digitally controlled by software specifically
developed for underfloor heating systems.
The N-Comfort series comprises four
different controllers – three thermostats
and one power regulator. Whatever your
need is, you will find a N-Comfort controller
optimal for your needs. From just simple
power control to advanced day/night
control, N-Comfort will do the job!
N-Comfort CDFR-001 and CDFR-002
The N-Comfort CDFR range comprises
programmable digital thermostats for
use in all indoor room types. The two
versions are delivered with different
factory set-ups to make installation as
quick and easy as possible, but both
types can be programmed to fit the
users’ needs in any room. The thermostats
are equipped with both room and
floor sensor. It is up to the installer to
determine which sensor to activate. If
necessary, both sensors can be activated.
The floor sensor will then function
as a temperature limitation sensor in
order to avoid overheating of the floor.
N-Comfort CEF-001
The model CEF-001 is an electronic
thermostat for use in all indoor room types.
It is equipped with both a room and a
floor sensor. Which sensor to use can
be chosen by simply adjusting a jumper
behind the front cover. If the floor sensor is
the active sensor, it will also function as a
temperature limitation sensor. The maximum
allowed floor temperature can be set
by adjusting a potentiometer positioned
behind the front cover.
The N-Comfort CEF-001 is recommended
for use in all room types. It is especially
suitable for bathrooms and other rooms
with concrete floors and high output
(100 – 150 W/m²).
N-Comfort CR-001
CR-001 is a power regulator with no
sensor. By turning the wheel, the user can
control the heating cable’s output. The
regulator works with a cycle of 30 minutes.
Turning the wheel tells the regulator how
many minutes it shall stay on and off within
the cycle.
Example: The regulator wheel is put in
position ”5”, pointing straight upwards.
The regulator will turn the cables on for
15 minutes and off for 15 minutes, working
in 30 minute cycles. The resulting heating
cable output is 50% of the nominal wattage.
The N-Comfort CR-001 is recommended
for use in small rooms with concrete floors
like for example toilets, small bathrooms
etc. It is also ideal for replacing old
1-2-3-switches commonly used in the
70’s and 80’s.
Installation and use of the thermostat
Ludens Reklamebyrå / 25 March 2008 / 3000
Installation of floor sensor
Applicable for: CDFR-001, CDFR-002,
CEF-001
Parts needed: Sensor (enclosed in
thermostat package)
Flexible conduit, same
length as the sensor
Piece of tape, approx.
10 cm.
Seal off the flexible conduit in the floor end
with a piece of tape, and install it in the
floor, centered between two heating cable
strings. It should reach at least 50 cm into
the floor. The other end of the conduit
shall end up in the junction box where the
thermostat shall be installed. Then feed the
sensor into the conduit from the junction
box end so that the end of the sensor ends
up near the floor end of the conduit.
Installation of the thermostat
Applicable for: All models
Parts needed: Thermostat or regulator
Junction box
Mounting screws to
fasten the thermostat/
regulator
Make sure that the power supply is
completely disconnected. Open the
thermostat by using a small screwdriver
and remove the frame and the front cover.
Connect the heating cable, power leads
and sensor (if applicable) to the correct
terminals on the back side of the thermostat/
regulator. Put the thermostat/regulator in
place in the junction box and attach it with
mounting screws. Put the frame and front
cover in place and attach by applying a
light pressure until a ”click” is heard.
Full installation instructions are enclosed
in the box.
Save money with
day/night temeperature control
Using the day/night function in CDFR-001
and CDFR-002 is likely to have a very
positive impact on heating expenses. It
is recommended to use this functionality
in all living areas like living rooms,
sleeping rooms, kitchens and halls. The
electricity consumption has been proven
to be reduced by up to 25% compared to
buildings with no such temperature control.
Modern heating cable solutions are thin
with less mass to be heated. This makes
modern heated floors very suitable for
day/night temperature control.
