WHAT IS STEAMPUNK
Yes, this is me wearing a “Fabulous”
Kevin James Design. *wink,*wink.
So, what is STEAMPUNK you ask, well...
this so happens to be one of my favorite subjects
to talk about in fashion. There are no set
guidlines! and the theme of our June issue of
Avant Garde Magazine.
My other company Victorian Romance Revival
is based on the Victorian, Romantic
Goth, Steampunk fashion. Steampunk fashion
has no set guidelines, but tends to synthesize
modern styles influenced by the Victorian
era. This may include gowns, corsets, petticoats
and bustles; suits with vests, coats and
spats; or military-inspired garments. Steampunk-influenced
outfits will often be accented
with a mixture of technological and period
accessories: timepieces, parasols, goggles, and
ray guns. Modern accessories like cell phones
or music players can be found in steampunkoutfits,
after being modified to give them the appearance of Victorian-made objects. Aspects of
steampunk fashion have been anticipated by mainstream high fashion, the Lolita fashion and
aristocrat styles, neo-Victorianism, and the romantic goth subculture.
It’s about having fun and being creative, I never did limit myself with restrictions, so I tend to
naturally gravitate to the fashionably bizarre and eccentric with a touch of beauty. Beauty is in
the eye of the beholder. I hope you enjoy our Steampunk edition of Avant Garde Magazine.
