Cynthia Angelina is a certified Makeup Artist 

and Hairstylist. Amongst her areas of expertise, 

she does airbrush makeup for the face as well as 

full body, she also has worked on Music Videos, 

Fashion Runways, Bridal, Portfolio & Business 

photo shoots, Special FX and more. Aside from 

doing freelance Makeup and Hairstyling , she 

also has her own blog called “Ask Cynthia” that 

provides “How To’s for the everyday woman. 

She was born and raised in Los Angeles, California and the influence of her environment is 

evident and a constant inspiration. In her free time, she works with Beauty Bus Foundation, 

providing makeup services to caregivers and people who are chronically or terminally ill, 

helping provide hope and smiles.

Have you seen the new movie Great Gatsby yet Even if you haven’t-I haven’t, but did read the amazing bookyou 

know that it’s out in theatres and is definitely making a statement. The makeup & hair that are featured in 

the film are amazing and will be an inspiration for summer looks. 

Accessories for your hair should include scarves, cute headbands, and head slides (think super cute bobby pins). 

These are fun and easy to use accessories whether you have long or short hair. You can create the looks by curling 

your luscious locks or maybe putting your hair up in a loosely-formed bun. If your hair is short, all you need 

to do is straighten it and apply an accessory of your choice. 

Makeup may be minimal, but a red lip always makes a statement to match the sizzling nights of summer. To 

create the look, black liquid liner should be applied to the eyes. You can make your eyes dramatic by wearing a 

smoky eye or for a “Day” wear, simply use a nude or barely there eye shadow. To match those crimson lips, opt 

for a pink or berry color blush and voila! You are now a Gatsby girl!

WHAT IS STEAMPUNK 

Yes, this is me wearing a “Fabulous” 

Kevin James Design. *wink,*wink. 

So, what is STEAMPUNK you ask, well... 

this so happens to be one of my favorite subjects 

to talk about in fashion. There are no set 

guidlines! and the theme of our June issue of 

Avant Garde Magazine. 

My other company Victorian Romance Revival 

is based on the Victorian, Romantic 

Goth, Steampunk fashion. Steampunk fashion 

has no set guidelines, but tends to synthesize 

modern styles influenced by the Victorian 

era. This may include gowns, corsets, petticoats 

and bustles; suits with vests, coats and 

spats; or military-inspired garments. Steampunk-influenced 

outfits will often be accented 

with a mixture of technological and period 

accessories: timepieces, parasols, goggles, and 

ray guns. Modern accessories like cell phones 

or music players can be found in steampunkoutfits, 

after being modified to give them the appearance of Victorian-made objects. Aspects of 

steampunk fashion have been anticipated by mainstream high fashion, the Lolita fashion and 

aristocrat styles, neo-Victorianism, and the romantic goth subculture. 

It’s about having fun and being creative, I never did limit myself with restrictions, so I tend to 

naturally gravitate to the fashionably bizarre and eccentric with a touch of beauty. Beauty is in 

the eye of the beholder. I hope you enjoy our Steampunk edition of Avant Garde Magazine.

Amber Goldhammer 

Like a child at play, artist Amber Goldhammer paints with joyful vision, transferring her innermost 

feelings onto the canvas. As a Fusionartist, Amber’s art takes a spiritual path free from inhibition 

and filled with love. You can’t help but smile as you enter the colorful and often tranquil world 

she creates. 

Amber began painting with pigments, powders and waxes and using the human face as her subject. 

This form of art led her to Los Angeles where she continued working with various artists and 

celebrities. Needing a larger surface, her hands met the canvas and instantly she was in Love. She 

was free to roam on a never ending surface which allows her spirit to guide her hands in creating 

enchanting abstract forms. 

With a focus of acrylic on canvas, Amber’s artwork begins in a place of total surrender and pure 

freedom. Painting predominately with her hands, when they touch the canvas there is no thought, 

no photo to look at, no figure to draw. Pure bliss ensues as what has been created is truly unknown. 

The vision and emotion is left to the eyes of the beholder.

Pose it, Light it, Love it! Outtakes day one and two with photographer Michael Jordan. 

Michael Jordan is the official Southwest Section PGA (SWSPGA) 

Junior Golf photographer. Michael has been a photo enthusiast 

for over 30 years. He picked up his first camera at the age 

of seven. He studied photography at the New York Institute of 

Photography. He now has a family with three young boys. His 

boys started golf lessons at an early age and quickly became very 

proficient at this sport. Being a proud father, Michael took many 

pictures of his children during practice and tournaments. When 

his boys are not playing golf, they join their father in photographing 

golfers. Michael and his boys specialize in taking great 

pictures on courses like Tuscany Falls and Blackstone Country 

Club. Knowing the layout of the golf courses is the key to getting 

great shots of the golfers. 

A shot is over in only a matter of seconds, and being in the right spot at the right time (along 

with his eye for composition) sets Michael’s photos apart from others. 

Besides golf, Michael has captured portraits of Russell Crow, Denzel Washington, Ed Norton, 

Josh Groban, along with numerous other local celebrities.
