On behalf of <strong>the</strong> Canadian Council of <strong>Fire</strong> Marshals / <strong>Fire</strong><br />

Commissioners, I would like <strong>to</strong> welcome <strong>the</strong> Canadian<br />

Associ<strong>at</strong>ion of <strong>Fire</strong> Chiefs (CAFC) and <strong>the</strong> Canadian Council of<br />

<strong>Fire</strong> Marshal and <strong>Fire</strong> Commissioners (CCFM/FC) deleg<strong>at</strong>es<br />

<strong>to</strong> 2011 <strong>Fire</strong>-Rescue Canada, <strong>Calgary</strong>, Alberta.<br />

I also want <strong>to</strong> take this opportunity <strong>to</strong> express my deepest<br />

appreci<strong>at</strong>ion <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> City of <strong>Calgary</strong>, <strong>the</strong> <strong>Calgary</strong> <strong>Fire</strong><br />

<strong>Department</strong>, members of <strong>the</strong> organizing committee and <strong>the</strong><br />

Alberta <strong>Fire</strong> Commissioner’s Office for “Taking <strong>the</strong> Lead”, and<br />

<strong>the</strong>ir work with <strong>the</strong> <strong>hosting</strong> of <strong>the</strong> 103rd CAFC Conference.<br />

<strong>The</strong> committee deployed every effort <strong>to</strong> make <strong>you</strong>r stay in <strong>Calgary</strong> a s<strong>at</strong>isfying and unforgettable experience.<br />

I am very pleased <strong>to</strong> see both, <strong>the</strong> CAFC and CCFM/FC, having <strong>the</strong>ir annual Convention in <strong>the</strong> City of <strong>Calgary</strong>.<br />

Once again, <strong>the</strong> executives of both Associ<strong>at</strong>ions will meet jointly <strong>to</strong> share <strong>the</strong>ir mutual concerns and objectives<br />

in providing fire services in Canada.<br />

I encourage deleg<strong>at</strong>es <strong>to</strong> particip<strong>at</strong>e in <strong>the</strong> present<strong>at</strong>ions of <strong>the</strong> outstanding guest speakers and break-out session<br />

speakers. <strong>The</strong>se speakers will share <strong>the</strong>ir knowledge and many years of expertise as <strong>the</strong>y “<strong>to</strong>ok <strong>the</strong> lead”<br />

in <strong>the</strong>ir respective fields.<br />

I also encourage CAFC members <strong>to</strong> take time <strong>to</strong> network with <strong>you</strong>r peers and members of <strong>the</strong> CCFM/FC from<br />

across Canada and <strong>to</strong> visit <strong>the</strong> suppliers th<strong>at</strong> will showcase <strong>the</strong>ir new products and technologies.<br />

CollaBoR<strong>at</strong>ioN – Canadian CBRNE First Responders Conference<br />

CollaBoR<strong>at</strong>ioN is an annual conference for individuals working with Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear<br />

and Explosive (CBRNE) response teams. Conference participants are often front-line emergency services workers.<br />

Most participants will have <strong>at</strong>tended <strong>the</strong> Canadian Emergency Management College in Ottawa and are<br />

looking <strong>to</strong> stay on <strong>to</strong>p of new developments and gain fur<strong>the</strong>r knowledge and skills in <strong>the</strong> CBRNE area.<br />

In partnership with <strong>the</strong> Canadian Associ<strong>at</strong>ion of <strong>Fire</strong> Chiefs (CAFC) <strong>the</strong> <strong>Calgary</strong> <strong>Fire</strong> <strong>Department</strong> is looking<br />

<strong>forward</strong> <strong>to</strong> being part of <strong>the</strong> 2011 CAFC conference being held in <strong>Calgary</strong> from September 25 – 28, 2011.<br />

We are excited about <strong>the</strong> partnership and being part of <strong>the</strong> educ<strong>at</strong>ional track of <strong>the</strong> 2011 CAFC conference.<br />

We thank <strong>you</strong> for <strong>you</strong>r understanding and continued support and look <strong>forward</strong> <strong>to</strong> seeing <strong>you</strong> <strong>at</strong> CollaBoR<strong>at</strong>ioN 2011.<br />
