05. <strong>Conference</strong> Structure and Elected Leadership<br />

a) <strong>The</strong> conference structure and elected leadership are noted in Section 200 below.<br />

b) Changes in conference structure shall be processed through the Common Table.<br />

c) <strong>The</strong> election <strong>of</strong> all elected leadership shall be subject to confirmation by the annual conference<br />

session, unless otherwise provided by <strong>The</strong> Book <strong>of</strong> Discipline.<br />

06. Lists <strong>of</strong> Members and Officers<br />

All person’s names used in conference, district or other mailings and lists <strong>of</strong> <strong>of</strong>ficers, including the<br />

local church, will be their lawful name and not nickname.<br />

07. Love Offering<br />

<strong>The</strong> Mission Promotion Ministry Team shall be the responsible body for administering the Love<br />

Offering <strong>of</strong> the annual conference session. <strong>The</strong> Mission Promotion Ministry Team shall select a<br />

recipient for its Love Offering by October 31 and recommend its choice to the Common Table and<br />

the Council on Finance & Administration for their consideration and formal approval by January 15.<br />

<strong>The</strong> Mission Promotion Ministry Team shall promote the <strong>of</strong>fering and administer the collection and<br />

distribution <strong>of</strong> the <strong>of</strong>fering in coordination with the <strong>Conference</strong> Sessions Action Team.<br />

08. <strong>The</strong> <strong>Conference</strong> Journal shall be Published <strong>Annual</strong>ly<br />

<strong>The</strong> standing rules <strong>of</strong> the annual conference shall be included annually in the Journal. Newly<br />

adopted <strong>Conference</strong> Policies and Procedures shall be available by September 15. Revisions shall<br />

indicate the date <strong>of</strong> adoption.<br />

200. CONFERENCE STRUCTURE and ELECTED LEADERSHIP<br />

01. Structure<br />

<strong>The</strong> structure <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Minnesota</strong> <strong>Annual</strong> <strong>Conference</strong> will fulfill the requirements <strong>of</strong> 626 <strong>of</strong> <strong>The</strong> Book <strong>of</strong><br />

Discipline to: “develop, administer, and evaluate the missional life, advocacy needs, and ministries <strong>of</strong><br />

the <strong>Church</strong> in and through the annual conference. It shall maintain connectional relationships;<br />

organize to develop and strengthen ethnic ministries, including ethnic local churches and concerns;<br />

and provide encouragement, coordination and support for conference agencies, districts, and local<br />

churches in their ministries <strong>of</strong> nurture, outreach, and witness in accordance with the mission <strong>of</strong> the<br />

<strong>United</strong> <strong>Methodist</strong> <strong>Church</strong>.”<br />

02. Membership and Term Limits<br />

<strong>The</strong> membership and term limits for each organizational unit shall be consistent with the 2000 Book<br />

<strong>of</strong> Discipline and all mandated functions will be incorporated into the functions <strong>of</strong> one <strong>of</strong> the ministry<br />

teams.<br />

03. Ministry Functions<br />

A ministry team shall consider new and existing ministry functions. When a relationship is not clear,<br />

the Common Table has the responsibility to refer these ministries to the appropriate ministry team.<br />

04. Ministry Teams<br />

<strong>The</strong>re will be five (5) ministry teams, with the leaders nominated by the Elected Leader Team, and<br />

elected by the annual conference session. Attention shall be given to matching leaders’ gifts for<br />

ministry and opportunities for ministry and racial, gender, district, age, and lay/clergy diversity.<br />
