**<strong>Students</strong> must enroll in both semester 1 and semester 2 units at the start <strong>of</strong> the academic year**<br />

This course is a dual degree, therefore you cannot exit with a single level award, but you may request a<br />

letter from the <strong>Course</strong> Coordinator confirming that you have satisfied the requirements for the relevant<br />

single award.<br />

Some prerequisite units are shown in parentheses in the <strong>Course</strong> <strong>Enrolment</strong> <strong>Guide</strong>. These units must be<br />

successfully completed before the chosen units. For more detailed information regarding prerequisite<br />

requirements and unit content, please check the ACU Handbook, available from the ACU website<br />

<strong>Students</strong> are reminded that, if they are enrolled in any subject which they have not successfully<br />

completed the necessary prerequisites, they must withdraw from that subject.<br />

The Core Curriculum<br />

The Australian Catholic University Core Curriculum has been designed to focus on aspects <strong>of</strong> the<br />

University’s identity and mission. The units emphasises critical judgment, clear expression, ethical<br />

decision-making and concern for others, as individuals and as a community.<br />

The Core is comprised <strong>of</strong> a total <strong>of</strong> five units:<br />

Two University Core units<br />

All students undertaking the <strong>Bachelor</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Nursing</strong>, <strong>Bachelor</strong> <strong>of</strong> Business Administration are required to<br />

complete the following University Core units as part <strong>of</strong> this program:<br />

UNCC100 Our World, Community and Vulnerability<br />

UNCC300 Understanding Self and Society: Contemporary Perspectives<br />

Two Core Curriculum Program units<br />

These units build explicitly on the University Core units<br />

HLSC120 Society Culture and Health<br />

BUSN202 Pr<strong>of</strong>essional Ethics<br />

One Community Engagement unit<br />

This unit serves to integrate theory with practice and will be undertaken in year three <strong>of</strong> the course.<br />

Repeat Subjects<br />

If you failed any units in 2012, you must repeat them in 2013. <strong>Enrolment</strong> in these units takes priority over<br />

other units.<br />

Overload/Maximum number <strong>of</strong> units to be taken<br />

The maximum number <strong>of</strong> units you may enrol in a term is four units. <strong>Students</strong> who wish to undertake<br />

additional units must consult with the <strong>Course</strong> Coordinator and obtain approval.<br />
