WORSHIP
Sunday Morning
All Souls offers four regular worship services to
choose from – come to one or come to them all.
8:30 The Point
The Point is a service that draws from history,
philosophy, literature, poetry and nature. No robes,
no hymns, no prayers or scriptures. Just a relevant
message, inspiring music by Rick Fortner and friends,
and a community committed to the common good.
Join us on this journey of depth and discovery.
10:00 Traditional Service
For over 90 years in Tulsa, All Souls has offered a
Sunday service that was born of a mainline Protestant
past yet uplifts a forward-looking, rational, scientific
world view combined with a deep respect for the
wisdom of the world’s great religions. Also, imbued
with philosophical, poetic, literary and historical
elements, this traditional service combines prayers
and hymns and language of reverence that speaks
of God in ways that leaves room for multiple and
metaphorical meanings to be discovered.
11:30 Contemporary Service
Since 2008, this service has fused All Souls inclusive
philosophy of religious freedom with God-centered
worship. In this service, the songs draw from Gospel,
Praise, Pentecostal and popular music and also find
room for occasional Classical, Jazz and R&B songs.
The instruments are often electric and the feeling is
always electrifying. This is a service for those who
seek not just a free and intellectual, exploration of
God, but also an energetic, embodies experience of
God.
Non Sunday
Worship
Worship on Wednesday (WoW Chapel) is part of
All Souls Wednesday Connections. Come for dinner
at 5:30, enjoy a short chapel service at 6:30 with local,
live music, and choose from a wide range of classes
and spiritual practices from 7-8:30 pm.
An Evening of Praise and Worship is exuberant
celebration music rooted in the Christian tradition,
led by Pastor David Smith and the New Dimensions
Chorale. It is at 7:00 pm on the second Friday,
September-May.
Why does All Souls offer different styles of
worship
Worship at All Souls Liberal Church began in 1921
with a “deeds not creeds” theology expressed through
a traditional mainline Protestant style of worship
with a liberal religious message. We still offer that
service each week.
In the 1990s, All Souls began an informal, mid-week
service (Wednesday night Chapel or Worship on
Wednesdays – WOW) in conjunction with education
programming.
In 2001, All Souls started the Soulful Sundown
service, based on secular forms of expression, as a
way of offering our message to the growing group of
unchurched people in our community.
Spiritual
Practices
Our corporate worship is complemented by a wide
range of spiritual practices, lead by ministers or
members such as:
• Evening of Praise
• Fiber, Fabric and Fellowship
• Local Souls (Small Group Ministry)
• Meditation
• Soulful Sundown
• Tai Chi
• Worship on Wednesday
For others, their service to the church, or to the
world, is their spiritual practice, including:
• Being a lunch buddy
• Coordinating special events
• Composting
• Driving the bus
• Greeting or Ushering
• Hauling recycling
• Helping to serve meals
• Playing an instrument
• Repairing homes for the needy
• Singing in one of our Choirs
• Teaching in the church school
• Tutoring a child or youth
• And much more!
