during my performance.”

around doing silly moves and participating in all the cheers
with the cheerleaders.”
Favorite Props: “I plan to use my trombone and fake play
to really get the band rockin’ and the crowd in the stands
yelling and cheering.”

people, start a wave, give hugs, dance, and be happy.”
Favorite Part About Being a Mascot: “Being the mascot
is great because you’re the one that gets to pump up the
crowd and make people laugh.”

Mascot’s Name: Mat/Molly the
Mustang
Pre-performance Ritual: “Before the game, I stock up on
water so I won’t get dehydrated. I will also listen to some
music to get me pumped.”
Favorite Song: “My favorite song to dance to is the band’s
version of ‘All I Do Is Win.’ It is fast enough to dance really
crazy, and it is easy to get into the song.”
Most Valued Character Trait: “The most valued character
trait for each of the mascots are their individual walks. Mat
has a manly and masculine walk, while Molly has a cute and
sassy walk that accentuates her femininity.”
Best Way to Get the Crowd Going: “The fastest and
easiest way to the crowd’s heart is to start twerking.”
My Mascot Dream: “If I am allowed, I hope to carry
on being a mascot in college, because it has been such a
wonderful experience and has opened the doors to amazing
things that would have been impossible beforehand.”
Mascot’s name: Rudy the Panther
Pre-performance Ritual: “Highfive
the front row of our school’s mob
squad and after the cheerleaders all
blow a kiss towards me while I flip my own
coin to see if my school gets heads or tails.”
Favorite Cheer: “Fire it up panthers, go, fight, win!”
Favorite Memory: “Doing my first-ever game as the
mascot during a spring football game and having it turn
out great.”
The Best Part: “The way the mascot acts can change the
whole mood of a game.”
Best Way to Get the Crowd Going: “I throw my arms up
and place them by my ear signifying that I can’t hear them,
then I dance.”
What I Love: “I just like making kids laugh. Being a mascot
is great because everyone looks at me like I am a superhero,
and I just could never get enough of that feeling.” CFM
KENNAN BUCKNER is convinced that with
an iPod and a mascot suit to hide in, she would
blow people away with her dance moves.
