<strong>Heavy</strong> <strong>Equipment</strong> <strong>Field</strong> <strong>Technician</strong><br />
Reports to: Service Manager<br />
Scope of the position:<br />
The role of the <strong>Heavy</strong> <strong>Equipment</strong> <strong>Field</strong> <strong>Technician</strong> is to set-up/PDI, maintain, and repair heavy<br />
equipment for our airport clients in the Northeast region of the US (Me, Nh, Ma, Ct, Ri, Vt, NY)<br />
The work encompasses a variety of activities including: installation and training for airport<br />
clients on new pieces of equipment, performing repairs during the warranty period, and<br />
overhauling used equipment for sale to clients.<br />
Responsibilities:<br />
1) perform maintenance and repair activities on various pieces of heavy equipment including but<br />
not limited to heavy duty trucks, Airport Rescue and Fire Fighting trucks, chemical spreaders,<br />
runway sweepers, plows, etc.<br />
2) diagnose, service, and repair various systems that are found on pieces of heavy equipment<br />
such as: mechanical and computer electronic controls, fuel systems, and hydraulic systems.<br />
3) troubleshoot malfunctions in the equipment and repair<br />
4) perform routine maintenance checks and adjustments on such things as fluid levels, hoses,<br />
belts, brakes, and tires, changes filters and oil, lubricates vehicles and motor driven equipment<br />
5) keep tools, equipment, and work area clean, organized and in safe working condition<br />
6) prepare / maintain work orders<br />
7) may assist in training Apprentice employees from time to time<br />
8) other duties as assigned<br />
Position Requirements:<br />
o Mechanic School Certification with EVT or ASE Certifications preferred<br />
o In-depth knowledge of Internal Combustion Engines (both gas and diesel), AC<br />
and DC Electrical Systems, Hydraulics, Aerial <strong>Equipment</strong>, and <strong>Heavy</strong> Trucks<br />
o Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot: Fuel Systems, Electrical Systems, Hydraulic<br />
Systems<br />
o Ability to perform complete repair and overhaul functions on heavy equipment<br />
o Ability to use Diagnostic Software<br />
o Ability to travel extensively throughout the Northeastern US as needed<br />
o Attention to detail, Accurately complete written record of work performed<br />
o Ability to adhere to strict timelines<br />
o <strong>Team</strong> player who can also work autonomously<br />
Candidate must successfully pass pre-employment background and motor vehicle records check.<br />
A valid clear driver's license is required.
