Heavy Equipment Field Technician
Reports to: Service Manager
Scope of the position:
The role of the Heavy Equipment Field Technician is to set-up/PDI, maintain, and repair heavy
equipment for our airport clients in the Northeast region of the US (Me, Nh, Ma, Ct, Ri, Vt, NY)
The work encompasses a variety of activities including: installation and training for airport
clients on new pieces of equipment, performing repairs during the warranty period, and
overhauling used equipment for sale to clients.
Responsibilities:
1) perform maintenance and repair activities on various pieces of heavy equipment including but
not limited to heavy duty trucks, Airport Rescue and Fire Fighting trucks, chemical spreaders,
runway sweepers, plows, etc.
2) diagnose, service, and repair various systems that are found on pieces of heavy equipment
such as: mechanical and computer electronic controls, fuel systems, and hydraulic systems.
3) troubleshoot malfunctions in the equipment and repair
4) perform routine maintenance checks and adjustments on such things as fluid levels, hoses,
belts, brakes, and tires, changes filters and oil, lubricates vehicles and motor driven equipment
5) keep tools, equipment, and work area clean, organized and in safe working condition
6) prepare / maintain work orders
7) may assist in training Apprentice employees from time to time
8) other duties as assigned
Position Requirements:
o Mechanic School Certification with EVT or ASE Certifications preferred
o In-depth knowledge of Internal Combustion Engines (both gas and diesel), AC
and DC Electrical Systems, Hydraulics, Aerial Equipment, and Heavy Trucks
o Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot: Fuel Systems, Electrical Systems, Hydraulic
Systems
o Ability to perform complete repair and overhaul functions on heavy equipment
o Ability to use Diagnostic Software
o Ability to travel extensively throughout the Northeastern US as needed
o Attention to detail, Accurately complete written record of work performed
o Ability to adhere to strict timelines
o Team player who can also work autonomously
Candidate must successfully pass pre-employment background and motor vehicle records check.
A valid clear driver's license is required.
