<strong>1.</strong>- <strong>The</strong> <strong>main</strong> <strong>objective</strong> <strong>of</strong> «Women <strong>In</strong> Direction» <strong>is</strong> <strong>to</strong> <strong>show</strong> <strong>and</strong> promote films<br />

<strong>of</strong> art<strong>is</strong>tic quality directed by women which contribute <strong>to</strong> the knowledge <strong>of</strong><br />

worldwide cinema.<br />

2.-<strong>The</strong> 4th edition <strong>of</strong> «Women <strong>In</strong> Direction» <strong>In</strong>ternational Film Festival, Cuenca<br />

will be held between November 23rd <strong>and</strong> November 28th, 2009.<br />

3.-<strong>The</strong> Festival cons<strong>is</strong>ts <strong>of</strong> the following sections:<br />

a) OFFICIAL SECTION: competitive section for fiction feature lengths.<br />

b) SHORT STORIES: competitive section for short films with a running<br />

time up <strong>to</strong> 20 minutes.<br />

c) HUMAN VALUES: competitive section for documentaries.<br />

d) SIDEBARS: devoted <strong>to</strong> films for adolescents, for children <strong>and</strong> <strong>to</strong> the<br />

presentation <strong>of</strong> a filmmaker, a genre, a nation’s cinema, etc.<br />

e) WORKSHOPS.<br />

4.-All films entered for the OFFICIAL, SHORT STORIES <strong>and</strong> HUMAN VALUES<br />

sections must comply with the following conditions:<br />

a) <strong>The</strong>y must have been produced in 2009 or 2008.<br />

b) <strong>The</strong> direc<strong>to</strong>r must be a woman.<br />

c) <strong>The</strong>y must have had no previous commercial, DVD, video or TV<br />

screening in Spain.<br />

d) <strong>The</strong>y should be presented in their original language version, preferably<br />

with Span<strong>is</strong>h subtitles.<br />

<strong>The</strong>y may be submitted with Engl<strong>is</strong>h subtitles, in which case a spotting<br />

l<strong>is</strong>t <strong>of</strong> the subtitles <strong>and</strong> a DVD must be supplied beforeh<strong>and</strong> <strong>to</strong> permit<br />

preparation <strong>of</strong> electronic subtitles in<strong>to</strong> Span<strong>is</strong>h.<br />

5.-A Jury <strong>of</strong> fifty members <strong>of</strong> the public will decide the Award for the Best<br />

Feature. Each Jury member signs an agreement <strong>to</strong> view all the features in<br />

competition <strong>and</strong> award points between 0 <strong>and</strong> 5 for each film.<br />

6.-A Jury <strong>of</strong> three short film direc<strong>to</strong>rs will decide the Award for Best Short Film.<br />

7.-A Jury <strong>of</strong> five members <strong>of</strong> the media will decide the Award for Best<br />

Documentary (Media Award).<br />

8.-Every year «Women <strong>In</strong> Direction» also <strong>of</strong>fers the “City <strong>of</strong> Cuenca Award” <strong>to</strong> a<br />

pr<strong>of</strong>essional <strong>of</strong> the cinema, either for her career or for an outst<strong>and</strong>ing feat.<br />

HOW TO PARTICIPATE IN «WOMEN IN DIRECTION»


Please send a DVD or VHS cassette <strong>of</strong> your film along with a short<br />

synops<strong>is</strong> <strong>and</strong> a l<strong>is</strong>t <strong>of</strong> the technical <strong>and</strong> art<strong>is</strong>tic credits before September<br />
