Academy Foundation 2004/2005 Award Recipients Each year the Foundation honors both individuals and organizations that have provided extraordinary support for our mission. Below list of the 2004/2005 award recipients. STANLEY M. TRUHLSEN, MD Dr. Stanley Truhlsen has provided a gift of $1 million towards the Museum of Vision. In doing so, Dr. Truhlsen became a charter member of The Visionary Society. KNIGHTS TEMPLAR EYE FOUNDATION, INC. The Knights Templar Eye Foundation has been a long-standing partner in supporting EyeCare America. Their contributions to the Seniors EyeCare Program have enabled us to serve hundreds of thousands of people and reach millions more each year with our messages about eye health and blindness prevention. RETINA RESEARCH FOUNDATION The Retina Research Foundation has provided over $1 million to the Academy Foundation with ongoing support throughout the years. This year the organization provided us with a gift of $100,000 toward ophthalmic education. We are grateful to the Retina Research Foundation for its ongoing support and commitment to our mission. DAVID PALMER, MD Dr. David Palmer has demonstrated his commitment to the preservation of sight by proactively seeking opportunities to educate the general public about glaucoma risk factors and to promote the importance of glaucoma exams. Dr. Palmer has sought out ways to elevate EyeCare America programs by securing interviews with local and national media outlets such as Ebony magazine and WTBS-TV. PFIZER OPHTHALMICS Over the past two years, Pfizer Ophthalmics has contributed more than $1.6 million to the Foundation. Included in that is a $1.5 million grant used to support EyeCare America’s Glaucoma EyeCare Program. ALCON This year, we recognized Alcon for its continued support of the Academy Foundation and their recent contribution of $1.125 million to EyeCare America’s Seniors EyeCare Program. SANTEN, INC. Over the last two years, Santen has supported educational programs of the Foundation with support totaling over $200,000. ALLERGAN, INC. Allergan’s support of Foundation programs for the last two years has totaled over $125,000. NOVARTIS OPHTHALMICS We would like to thank Novartis Ophthalmics for two years of contributions totaling more than $100,000.
