1. The discussion of public recreational land use (active & passive),
including the preservation and conservation of environmental areas
of the City

public participation/involvement and recreational needs, and
3. Discussion of the development of funding sources to fund such

What an exciting time for the Streetsboro Parks & Recreation
Department. Your Parks & Recreation Department has seen
growth in all aspects of recreational offerings from new programs
to new park amenities.
The newest amenities include the addition of an off leash dog
park in Thomas Heritage Park and the addition of new playground
equipment in City Park.

Smoking Policy
Fans/spectators are reminded that there is no smoking permitted
around the players, near the playing fields or in City Hall. Fans/
spectators will need to follow Streetsboro City Schools policies for
smoking during any Parks & Recreation program or league.

This landmark civil rights legislation went into effect January 26, 1992.
It was a significant step forward in the effort to make our society’s
services and opportunities fully available to all Americans by
combating barriers and prejudices that confront those persons with
special challenges and needs. The Streetsboro Parks & Recreation
Department welcomes all individuals and families from our community
to participate and enjoy programs regardless of race, color, religion,
sex, national origin or ability.
Unpredicted Closings/ Cancellations
When the City is under a level 2 weather advisory all programs will be
cancelled. For updated cancellations please call our office at
330-626-3802.
Pets
All pets must be on a leash at all times when on City property. Pets
may be asked to leave and not return at the discretion of the Parks &
Recreation staff at any time.
You Snooze...You Lose
Don’t wait until the last minute to register for a program! Most
programs have participant minimum and maximums to meet. Don’t
lose out! A registration form is located in this program guide.
Photo Release
Photographs may be taken at any program or facility of the Parks &
Recreation Department. Your image may be used for promotional
purposes.

do everything possible to make corrections, and we thank you for your

By Mail:
Completed registration forms can be mailed with full
payment, check or money order, to 9184 State Route 43,
Streetsboro, OH 44241. Make checks payable to “The City
of Streetsboro.” Registration forms are also available online
at www.cityofstreetsboro.com.

You can register at www.cityofstreetsboro.com (Only for
selected programs).
Cancellations:
Streetsboro Parks & Recreation Department reserves the
right to cancel any class or program which does not meet
the minimum required participants. In the event your class
is cancelled, we will notify you by phone. You may transfer
to another class or program, receive a credit for a later class
or program, or receive a refund. Program dates and times
are subject to change on short notice.
Refund Policy:
Refunds or credits will be given for classes cancelled by the
Parks & Recreation Department. Refunds will be granted if
request is made 5 working days in advance of the first
program date. A $5.00 administrative cost will be withheld.
Refunds will not be granted once a program begins.
Exceptions: Injury which prohibits participant’s involvement
or a doctor’s statement of participant’s inability to
participate. Please allow 3-4 weeks for refund by mail.

Toddler Open Gym

When it’s time to get out of the house and
run free, Toddler Open Gym just may be
what you need. With a variety of toys to
play with, children learn first hand how to
share and play well with others. Parents/
guardians are required to stay with their

Introduce your child to the exciting sport of gymnastics.
Our theme based classes focus on fundamentals for boys
and girls 18 months - 3 years. Each class will include group
warm up, independent skill development time followed by
group closing activity. Themes will change throughout the
year and include creative skill building activities.

Children will be introduced to beginning skills on floor,
vault, bars and beam in these theme based classes. Our
goal is to develop each child’s physical potential and
increase self esteem by providing a successful experience
in a non competitive class environment.

Explore the exciting sport of gymnastics. Children will be
introduced to progressions, terminology and beginning
skills on floor, vault, bars and beam.
Kick Start Sports
Instructor: Recreation Staff Member • Max. 20 participants per sport
Deadline for all programs are 2 weeks before session begins
Kick Start Sports is geared for young children who want to play
sports but are not old enough to join the regular league. All sports
will be 5-week programs held once a week. Parents are required
to work with their child and be on the field or court at all times!
Each participant will receive a t-shirt, uniform and ball, or
equipment to keep!
If you would like to volunteer to help instruct any of these sports
please contact the Parks & Recreation Department.

Kick Start Cheerleading introduces your child to the basic chants,

Call From the North Pole
ALL AGES WELCOME
This is your chance to receive a phone
call from Santa! The Parks & Recreation
Office. and the Lion’s Club have partnered
together and have scheduled a date with
Santa. Santa will take some time away
from his hectic schedule to call your child
before Christmas. If you would like to
request a call from Santa simply fill out a
registration form at the Parks &
Recreation office with your child’s name, phone number
and interests. Your child will receive a brief phone call from
Santa himself. Registration forms are available at the Parks
& Recreation office.

Letters to Santa
Santa is waiting to hear from you! Santa has a
mailbox at Streetsboro City Hall to gather all
his letters that will be sent directly to him at the
North Pole. All good little boys and girls are
encouraged to drop their letters in the mailbox.
Include a self addressed stamped envelope
and you’ll receive a reply from Santa himself!

Kuk Sool Won
Ages: 5 years to Adult
Free 2-week Trial (must be last two weeks of the month)
Deadline is the last Friday prior to each month’s session
New session begins the 1st of each month
Kuk Sool Won of Streetsboro teaches the traditional values
of martial arts but with an upbeat, enthusiastic modern
approach. They combine kicking, punching, throwing,
falling, joint-locking, pressure points, meditation and
weapon’s techniques into a beautiful and dynamic style that
emphasizes speed and fluidity. It’s sure to meet your
physical and mental goals on an individualized basis. The
instructors will familiarize you with some basic martial art
techniques which will help you understand the benefits of
the training. Participants are encouraged to wear loose
fitting clothing (long sleeves may be desirable) and bring a
water bottle. All other equipment will be provided. Your
instructor will be Bob Williams a fifth degree Black Belt in
Kuk Sool Won. Pre-registration and payment are a must at
the Parks & Recreation Department.

Join Streetsboro Parks & Recreation for
an archery camp. Safety and technique
will be taught in this 3 day camp.
Participants will be shooting at targets at
the Tinkers Creek archery range. Boys
and girls are invited to participate in this
fun sport. Parents are required to stay
the entire time. You must register your
child at the Streetsboro Parks &
Recreation Department.

Trophy Making

Then use their new skills to build a real trophy to take

trophy. Everyone is a First Place winner on this day.

Pumpkin Coloring

Knight Training
Ages: 5 - 12 years old
The King needs Squires to learn the
skills and become knights of his Realm.
The Squires are assigned to the Knights
to go through the training. The Knights
will teach the Code of Chivalry (Knights
Code) and Medieval Swordsmanship
using padded swords. At the end the
Squires are dubbed Knights of the Realm and to go forth
and live by the Knights Code.

kites and how they fly
from Kite Expert, Nile
Carver. Nile has been
constructing kites for
over 20 years.

permits. This kite will fly
up with candy and drop
it for the children to run

Hunters Education
Instructor: Ed Humphreys • All Ages
If you are a first time hunter this Hunter Education course is
for you. First time hunters are required to complete this
course prior to purchasing a hunting license. Participants
will learn about firearms, archery, safety, conservation,
ammunition, personal safety, and responsibility.
Participants must attend all 3 classes to complete the
course. Please dress for the weather and be prepared to
be outside. Students under 10 must be accompanied by an
adult! The course is taught by Ed Humphreys, Hunter
Education Instructor from the Ohio Department of Natural
Resources, Division of Wildlife.

Candy Land - Father Daughter Dance
Ages: 3 - 12 years old
Join us for another unforgettable night that provides a special time for fathers and daughters
of all ages. This is a special event that allows an evening for Daddy's and Daughters to
dance the night away giving them memories to last a lifetime. Last year’s dance filled up fast and all who
attended thoroughly enjoyed themselves. This year’s theme will consist of all things Candy Land!
Decorations, party favors, and photography will be all be coordinated around this theme.
Cheryl Taylor of Cheryl Taylor Photography will take formal or casual photographs as a memory of this
special evening. A skilled DJ will provide music from all genres of music, including the
perennial favorites.

developing and enhancing the athlete's speed, quickness,
physical and mental reconditioning, and agility through

Help us decorate St. Rt. 43 along City Hall
for Halloween. We need your help
designing scarecrows! We will supply the
hay, a pumpkin head, and a frame in the

scarecrow. All scarecrows will be on
display along St. Rt. 43 on the City Hall
side till Oct 27th for everyone to see! The
week of Oct 28 you can pick up your
scarecrow to take home to keep just in time for Halloween.

Trick or Treat is scheduled for Thursday, October 31, 2013 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm
The New Thomas Heritage Park
is going to the dogs, well part of it anyway.
Every year L’Oreal USA employees engage in a variety of volunteer projects around the county. In a single day they
generate over 12,000 hours of community service. On Friday, June 7, 2013 the employees of the Professional
Products Division of L'Oreal USA, in Streetsboro worked with the Streetsboro Parks & Recreation Department to help
construct a one acre off leash dog park in the new Thomas Heritage Park. Over 70 volunteers were present, along
with several residents from the community. Together they worked from 8:00 am until after 1:00 pm.
They set split rail fences, cleared areas for flower beds, painted fire hydrants and also participated in the
Streetsboro Cares home clean up program within the City.
The off leash dog park is scheduled to open later this year.

Bingo and Breakfast at Eat n’ Park
Bingo will be the second Tuesday of every month with breakfast
starting at 9 am followed by Bingo at 10:00 am. Cost: $4.99 for
the all-you can eat breakfast buffet; NO cost for Bingo.

by Exterior Designs, Inc. is held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from
10:00 - 10:45 a.m. A session is $16.00 per person (8 classes per
session) or $4.00 per class. The class uses stretch bands and
weights to increase and improve your flexibility and strength with
an added bonus of exercises. Our instructor is Chris Klemm who
is knowledgeable and willing to help you get the best out of this
program. For more information contact the Center or stop by

Cancellations: Streetsboro Parks & Recreation Department reserves the right to cancel any class or program which does not meet the minimum
required participants. In the event your class is cancelled, we will notify you by phone. You may transfer to another class or program, receive a credit
for a later class or program or receive a refund.
Refund Policy: Refunds or credits will be given for classes cancelled by the Parks & Recreation Department. Refunds will be granted if request is
made 5 working days in advance of the first program date. A $5 administrative COST will be withheld. Refunds will not be granted once a program
begins. Exceptions: Injury which prohibits participants involvement, doctor’s statement notifying participants inability to participate. Please allow 3-4
weeks for refund by mail.
