2.4 Expenditure and Participation in Professional Learning
At Loyola College, we value the ongoing skills and knowledge
development of all members of our learning community. All staff
members were involved in a wide range of professional learning
activities including personal professional development, health and
wellbeing, working in year level and vertical pastoral care teams, within
their curriculum areas or faculty groups, as well as attending whole
staff professional learning.
During 2010, six school days were dedicated to professional learning
which specifically related to various aspects of the College’s Strategic
Plan. Of special significance in our 30 th year was the In the Footsteps
of Ignatius Staff Pilgrimage to Sevenhill, South Australia visiting
places of significance to the first Jesuits who arrived in Australia at
Sevenhill and to St. Mary of the Cross MacKillop who was based at
both Norwood and Sevenhill at different times of her life. Our 126
teachers and educational support staff have undertaken professional
learning activities beyond the College for a total of 560 days. When all
expenses are calculated, the average expenditure per teacher and
educational support staff member was $1136 in addition to the
school~based professional learning activities.
A number of staff members also participated in individual self-funded
or Catholic Education Office Melbourne sponsored study programs.
