JUNEAU » Best of Juneau ®
MAY–SEPT. (6-1/4 hrs.) Adult: $185 Child: $139
This tour combines Whale Watching, the famous Mendenhall Glacier & Original Alaska Salmon Bake!
Come face to face with one of the only road accessible glaciers, marvel at a humpback whale the size of six elephants,
and top it off with a scrumptious all-you-can-eat adventure featuring wild Alaskan salmon grilled over an alder
wood fire. You’ll call this combination amazing. We call it the Best of Juneau ® . Your knowledgeable driver/guide’s
entertaining narrative will inspire you to want to learn more, and the US Forest Service Rangers interpret the
spectacular ice wall of the Mendenhall Glacier while you explore the trails and visitors center. Your captain and
naturalist will welcome you aboard The North Star, a custom designed vessel for Juneau whale watching, and
you’ll be off to see whales —guaranteed! The Gold Creek Salmon Bake is more than a meal. It is the ultimate
Alaska experience with great food, live music, and fun activities like gold panning, marshmallow roasting, and a
nature walk, set in a lush rainforest alongside Salmon Creek.
JUNEAU » Mendenhall Glacier Float Trip
MAY–SEPT. (3-1/2 hrs.) Adult: $135 Child: $90
Board your raft at the iceberg-studded lake of the spectacular Mendenhall Glacier, and marvel at the views of
towering mountains, forests and wildlife as the river carries you from the half-mile-wide glacier face, in the Tongass
National Forest, through the glacial-carved Mendenhall Valley. You’ll have the option to paddle the raft while
being entertained by your professional guide’s interpretive narrative, but most of our guests choose to have the
guide do all the work—just sit on the bench and smile for the photographer during the short stretch of class II
and III rapids. Be on the lookout for bald eagles, black bears, otters, and dear. This river trip is a great way for
all to get into Alaska’s outdoors—just sit and enjoy the ride. Includes an Alaskan-style snack.
JUNEAU » Glacier View Sea Kayaking
MAY–SEPT. (3-1/2 hrs.) Adult: $95 Child: $63
Glide through the waters native-style, get an up-close look at wildlife, and enjoy ever-changing views of the Mendenhall
Glacier after a narrated tour through a historic part of Juneau on your way to North Douglas Island. Your guide will
teach you paddling techniques and provide an interpretive narrative while you kayak against a backdrop of forested
slopes, nearby peaks and the spectacular Mendenhall Glacier. Stealthily approach wildlife—Bald eagles, herons,
shorebirds and waterfowl are all common sights. Porpoises and even humpback whales occasionally surface for air.
If you’re lucky, you might see a humpback’s enormous tail fluke. Includes an Alaskan-style snack.
JUNEAU » Historic Gold Mining & Panning Adventure
MAY–SEPT. (1-1/2 hrs.) Adult: $59 Child: $39
Catch “gold fever” and experience what it was like to seek your fortune during Gold Rush days! Learn to pan
for gold (and keep all you find!), and discover Juneau’s colorful mining heritage for yourself. Head out with a
prospector/guide in authentic 19th-century dress for a historical tour of Juneau then head for Gold Creek and
“Last Chance Basin”. Your prospector will show you how gold panning is done creek side, in a beautiful, secluded
mountain setting. We are the only company allowed to use this special place, but the locals know how much
gold is still there, so you will likely witness some real panners. You will expertly work the pan with helpful tips,
and you will find gold–guaranteed! Take home a souvenir Orelove Brothers Gold Claim Certificate and all the
gold you find! Also available: Gold Panning & Salmon Bake Combo (3 hrs. $89/$59).
the face of the majestic Mendenhall Glacier. Paddle across Mendenhall Lake, navigating past icebergs, surrounded
by one of the richest samplings of Alaskan wildlife you’ll find anywhere. Birds, including arctic terns, nest on the
shoreline, and eagles, goats, salmon and bears are all common sights. Then, venture within a safe distance of
the massive, awe-inspiring face of the living glacier. Skirt past powerful Nugget Falls and disembark your canoe
at its base to enjoy an Alaskan-style snack and stop to take photos. You’ll make your trip in an easy to paddle,
15-passenger, traditional Tlingit-style canoe to experience this one-of-a-kind adventure.
