The field will be developed through the two existing drill centres in the nearby Don SW and West Don Fields. The wells will be tied-back to the oil export and water injection pipelines to the Northern Producer floating production facility (FPF). The development will consist of 1 producer and 1 water-injector with the potential to drill a second production and water-injector well pair. Wells will be drilled using a combination of water and oil based muds. Cuttings and water based muds will be discharged to sea from the drilling rig at the seabed. Oil based mud and cuttings will not be discharged and will be skipped and shipped back to shore for disposal. Small sections of spool pieces will be required to tie the new wellheads into the existing oil export and water injection pipelines. Spool pieces will be surface laid and covered with concrete mattresses and grout bags for protection. Current estimates are that the field will produce approximately 800,000 barrels of crude for the first year decreasing to 30,000 barrels per year by end of field life. June 2011. PON15B/463/1 – PON15B for 211/18a-S7 development well (Intertek-Metoc 2010) D/3963/2009 - Don Southwest and West Don Development Environmental Statement (PEDL 2008a) EnQuest is aiming to limit environmental effects to as low as reasonably practicable through project design and mitigation. During construction it is considered that the following may have an impact: atmospheric emissions, anchoring of the drilling rig, discharge of water based mud and cuttings, positioning of structures and concrete mattressing on the seabed and the accidental spill of hydrocarbons. However in all instances the severity of the impact is limited by the nature and composition of the environment and by the fact that these activities are short-term and affect a localised area. The significant impacts from the production phase would be an incremental increase in the discharge of chemicals from the Northern Producer and wellheads and the accidental spill of hydrocarbons.
