onslaught of lizards and birds. In this case, the<br />
natural predators, rather than humans, are the<br />
driving forces of natural selection. Mating<br />
experiments show that each variety of "walking<br />
stick" prefers to mate only with others having<br />
the same color pattern. This breeding isolation<br />
is leading to the evolution of two distinct species.<br />
