Applications are sought for this established post, providing a general adult psychiatry service to a portion of East Dunbartonshire 

Community Health Partnership in the Strathkelvin area of north Glasgow, Lenzie and Kirkintilloch - a mixture of urban and rural 

areas. The service manages community work around Larkfield Centre in Lenzie and has inpatients in Mackinnon House at 

Stobhill hospital in Bishopbriggs. Post holders should have a CCT in general adult psychiatry and have completed training under 

section 22 of the Scottish Mental Health Act to allow them to be listed as approved medical practitioners of the Board. On call is 

around 1 in 28 and is not onerous. The work is interesting and challenging and you would be working with a colleague 

consultant and a full multidisciplinary team. The Northeast Mental Health Directorate provides services for a population of 

around 350,000 people residing between the River Kelvin to the West, the River Clyde to the South and the Campsie Hills to the 

North. Services are provided for 6 community resource centres and 2 principle inpatient sites. North inpatients are located in 

MacKinnon House within new purpose built accommodation on the Stobhill General Site with 20 bedded locality wards and a 6 

bedded IPCU. East inpatients are currently based at Parkhead Hospital but are due to be relocated adjacent to MacKinnon 

House at Stobhill. Community services are well developed and CMHTs are well staffed with good links with GP and voluntary 

sector. There is an active programme of undergraduate, postgraduate educational and multi-disciplinary clinical governance 

meetings along with consultant CPD and managerial meetings. There is an active research programme with a generous study 

leave budget and staff are encouraged to keep their practice up to date. There has been recent major investment at Board 

level in mental health with the development of crisis services, early intervention and assertive outreach. General Adult Services

The successful candidate will provide consultant leadership for a multidisciplinary forensic community learning disability team 

and will be expected to assess patients and provide liaison with local learning disability services. This post has resulted from a 

reconfiguration of existing consultant psychiatrist provision and will initially involve developing a service which links into 

established forensic and learning disability community services. The post will be open to those with either forensic or learning 

disability CCT's and comprises of 10 Programmed Activities. The successful candidate would work predominantly with an 

outpatient caseload of about 30 patients across the health board area. He or she will lead a multidisciplinary team and will be 

expected to assess patients for suitability for specialist intervention. Joint working and liaison with community learning disability 

teams and services across the patch is an essential component to this post and it is anticipated that much of the work will involve

The successful applicant will be expected to work closely with colleagues to provide a full range of services to inpatients and 

ensure their eventual appropriate and safe transfer to a low secure or outpatient setting. This is part of a 50 bedded inpatient 

forensic service spread across 6 wards for men with mental illness or learning disability and forensic needs. The focus is on the 

rehabilitation into the community of patients whose risk management, treatment and support needs have been fully assessed by 

the clinical team. The successful candidate would work predominantly with about 15 male inpatients in one low secure ward and 

would be expected to retain responsibility for the care of patients who move to our pre-discharge ward. He or she will be 

expected to lead a multidisciplinary team and to assess patients for admission, including patients moving from medium and high 

security settings. This is a tremendous opportunity to join our service and take a full part in the ongoing development of the 

largest forensic service in Scotland. There are established forensic community mental health teams covering the NHS Greater 

Glasgow and Clyde health board area and a forensic learning disability service. A 50 bedded low secure service exists at 

Leverndale Hospital, Glasgow. Medium secure care is based at the Rowanbank Clinic, a 74 bedded, purpose built unit which 

opened in 2007 at Stobhill Hospital in Glasgow. The Clinic is the medium secure unit for the West of Scotland region with 

additional supra-regional and national remits including the national medium secure learning disability service. On call

Mental health services in Renfrewshire serve a population of about 170,000 people, and are managed as part of NHS Greater 

Glasgow and Clyde. Community services in Renfrewshire are well developed, with general adult services provided by two 

Community Mental Health Teams (based in community resource centres at Mile End Mill and the Charleston Centre in Paisley), 

an Intensive Home Treatment Team and a Primary Care Mental Health Team ("Doing Well"). This post will be based at the West 

Renfrewshire CMHT at Mile End Mill initially, but there may be some flexibility to work in other areas of Renfrewshire community 

mental health services in future. You will be responsible for the assessment of acute and routine cases, initiating investigations 

and developing management plans. These duties will be carried out in the resource centre or the patient's home. You will be 

well supported by other medical staff as well as a positive and well-functioning multi-disciplinary team. Although the post is

SAC approved: Date of commencement Feb 1st 2012 for a year. We invite applications for the post of Senior Clinical Fellow in 

Orthopaedic Hip and Knee Surgery based at Southern General Hospital, Glasgow, Scotland. This is a pleasant area to live and 

work and major Scottish tourist attractions are nearby. Applicants should have either completed or be about to complete their 

training in Orthopaedics. The adult reconstructive orthopaedic fellowship consists of twelve months of combined clinical and 

research work. The fellow, in general, spends more time in the clinical setting for the first six months, and more time completing 

research projects in the last six months of the fellowship. On the clinical side, the members of the Division perform about 1000 

surgical procedures each year. About 750 of these procedures are elective hip and knee primary and revision procedures. About 

75 of these are procedures for urgent arthroplasty problems, such as infections, periprosthetic fractures. The training also 

includes conservative hip surgery like Hip arthroscopy and osteotomies around the hip. The Complex Joint Clinics and Young 

Hip clinics are tertiary care clinics that cater to patients with complex hip and knee problems. These clinics each week remain as 

the main outpatient clinic for the fellow. Participation in research and publication in basic science and clinical fields is 

compulsory. Established links exist with the Bioengineering Department of Strathclyde University and the Department of 

experimental medicine at Glasgow University. To practice medicine in the UK you need to hold both GMC registration and a
