NOTICE of RACE<br />
The Bermuda Sailing Association (BSA) and the Royal Bermuda Yacht Club<br />
(R.B.Y.C.), their Officers, Members, Employees and Volunteers bear no<br />
responsibility for accidents, damage or injuries to yachts or their personnel in any<br />
way or from any cause during or related to the National Keelboat Championships.<br />
Attention is drawn to RRS 4.<br />
ORGANIZING AUTHORITY, DATES AND VENUE<br />
The Organizing Authority (OA) will be the R.B.Y.C. The National Keelboat<br />
Championships will be held on Saturday, 14 th of November 2009. Races will be in<br />
the Great Sound. The series will consist of 5 races.<br />
RULES<br />
The regatta will be governed by The Racing Rules of Sailing (R.R.S.) 2009 ‐ 2012,<br />
the B.S.A. Prescriptions and Code of Conduct, the rules of the competing classes<br />
(including the Bermuda Fleet Class Rules in the case of the J‐105 and I.O.D. classes<br />
only), this Notice of Race, except as any of these are changed by the Sailing<br />
Instructions, and the Sailing Instructions. Where there is a conflict between the<br />
Notice of Race and the Sailing Instructions the Sailing Instructions shall prevail.<br />
EVENT CATEGORY<br />
In accordance with RRS Appendix 1, the Bacardi National Keelboat Championships<br />
is a Category A event for the J‐105 Class, J – 80 Class, Inter<strong>national</strong> Etchells Class<br />
and the Inter<strong>national</strong> One‐Design Class (I.O.D.). The regatta will be sponsored by<br />
Bermuda Premium Spirits, local distributors of BACARDI Rum and all boats may be<br />
required throughout the regatta to display hull stickers with the sponsor’s<br />
advertising.
ELIGIBILITY<br />
The regatta is open to all yachts of the J‐105, J – 80, Inter<strong>national</strong> Etchells and<br />
Inter<strong>national</strong> One Design classes. In order for a class to be eligible to compete, at<br />
least 3 boats need to be registered and start in the first race. The regatta is open<br />
to all competitors; however the National Champion of each participating class<br />
must be a resident of Bermuda. All competitors shall be members of a BSA<br />
affiliated Club, Class or Association in good standing.<br />
REGISTRATION and WEIGH‐IN<br />
Entry and Waiver forms will be available from the R.B.Y.C. and other sailing clubs.<br />
Entries and Waivers, accompanied by fees payable to the BSA, will be accepted at<br />
the R.B.Y.C. until 1830 hours on Friday, 13 th November 2009. Fees are; J105 Class ‐<br />
$50.00, I.O.D. ‐ $40.00, J‐ 80, $40, Inter<strong>national</strong> Etchells ‐ $30.00<br />
GENERAL<br />
Sailing Instructions will be available at the R.B.Y.C. and BSA website, in the R.B.Y.C.<br />
foyer, BSA office (12 Reid Street, Walker Arcade), through Class Representatives<br />
and the on Friday, 13 th November.<br />
Skipper’s Meeting at 0830 Saturday, November 14, 2008, where COURSE CARDS<br />
will be available.<br />
The warning signal for the first race of each day will be made at 1030 hours.<br />
The awards presentation and BBQ and cocktail party will be held at the R.B.Y.C.<br />
immediately following racing and confirmation of results on Saturday 16 th<br />
November. Tickets for BBQ will be available at registration BSA members FREE/<br />
non‐members $8. All competitors and guests are welcome.
