PARTS SELECTION 

Rotel engineers spend many hours 

listening to and selecting electronic 

parts from potential suppliers to give 

our components the best reliability 

and acoustic advantages. It costs a 

little more, but we believe the benefits 

further differentiate Rotel’s quality from 

mainstream audio/video manufacturers. 

CIRCUIT TOPOLOGY 

It’s not enough to simply use better 

parts. Where you put them is equally 

important. That’s why we rely heavily 

on something we call Symmetrical 

Signal Trace design. This keeps each 

channel’s signal path identical to the 

others to preserve imaging and sound 

staging. We also use “star” grounding 

techniques wherever possible to 

improve performance (a method of 

terminating all ground points in a starshaped 

pattern on a single plane that 

reduces ground potential). 

CRITICAL EVALUATION 

We’ve found that human hearing is 

more sensitive than even sophisticated 

instruments in the hands of experienced 

engineers. We set up listening sessions 

at various development stages, not just 

the final pre-production prototype, to 

ensure the performance of a new model 

is as good as it can possibly be.

Rotel’s RSX-1560 receiver delivers topof-the-line 

performance and all of the 

features you have come to expect from 

our premium brand. At 7 x 100 watts into 

8 ohms, or 7 x 200 watts into 4 ohms, 

this advanced surround receiver can fill 

your family or media room with the most 

dynamic, pulse-pounding, sound effects. 

Yet, it is just as adept at providing all of 

the most delicate nuances from voice 

tracks and music. The RSX-1560 surround 

receiver features an audiophile quality 

Class D amplifier design, along with HDMI 

1.3 connections and the ability to decode 

Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Digital Plus, dts-HD 

Master Audio and dts HD Hi-Resolution 

audio codecs. The RSX-1560 is a true 

theatre command center and can also 

provide a multiroom audio solution with up 

to three additional audio zones throughout 

the home. All 15 series components are 

available in silver or black finishes. 

The RSX-1550 provides virtually all of the 

same features found on the RSX-1560 but 

with a 5 x 75 watt per channel output 

design. In fact, if your needs grow, it may 

be reconfigured to produce 7 x 100 watts 

per channel through on-screen software 

and the addition of an RB-1562 (2 x 100 

watt per channel) power amplifier. No 

obsolescent designs here! The RSX-1550 

is a Class AB design built on nearly 50 

years manufacturing experience. It includes 

HDMI 1.3 connections and the same ability 

to handle the new high definition codecs 

by Dolby and dts as the RSX-1560 and 

also includes the same multizone audio 

and custom installation features. If you are 

considering a five-channel theatre now but 

may want to grow into a larger system later

For those who desire the ultimate 

performance and maximum flexibility 

from their home theatre, the RSP-1570 

is the surround preamp/processor 

to own. All of Rotel’s renowned audio 

experience has been poured into this 

design to provide you with the very 

best in audio and video reproduction. 

The RSP-1570 features HDMI 1.3 

connections with 1080p / 24 Hertz 

compliance and processing for the 

new “Deep Colour” and xvYCC options. 

This superbly designed component is 

easy to set up and use and is a custom 

installer’s friend with rear panel bi-directional 

RS-232 ports, assignable 12-volt 

triggers and multiple IR connections.

5-CHANNEL POWER AMPLIFIER 

Larger listening environments require 

prodigious amounts of power to deliver 

room filling sound. That’s exactly what 

you get with Rotel’s 5 x 250 watt power 

amplifier. Rotel’s RMB-1575 is a true 

high current audiophile design and can 

double its output to 5 x 500 watts at 

4 ohms with all channels driven. Pure 

muscle alone however, does not make a 

superb amplifier. The RMB-1575 excels at 

extracting all of the smallest audio details 

from both music and movie soundtracks 

alike. Best of all, even with its high power 

capability the RMB-1075 runs relatively 

cool, extending the components lifespan 

thanks to its innovative Class D design. 

RMB-1565 


The RMB-1565 is designed around the 

same superb Class D design as the RMB- 

1575 but with a slightly smaller output of 

5 x 100 watts per channel into 8 ohms. 

It is the perfect choice for medium to 

large home theatre rooms. Plus, just like 

its bigger brother, it will double its output 

with more difficult lower impedance loads, 

thereby providing 5 x 200 watts into 4 

ohms. It also includes all of the custom 

installation features such as 12 volt 

triggers, and “U height” dimensions that 

are demanded of today’s modern power 

amplifiers.

This high power two-channel amplifier can 

be used with the RMB-1575 to expand your 

theatre system into a 7.1 system, or it can 

stand alone as a reference amplifier for a 

two-channel hi-fi system. Either way, it has 

the same performance characteristics, 

sound quality, and custom installation 

options as the five-channel RMB-1575. 

RB-1562 


Rotel provides multiple amplifier solutions 

for all of your theatre systems. The RB-1562 

is a 2 x 100 watt per channel (8 ohms, all 

channels driven) power amplifier that can 

be combined with the RMB-1565 amplifier 

for a total 7 x 100 watts per channel home 

theatre amplification. It is also a great twochannel 

hi-fi amplifier and can drive a wide 

range of small to large speakers with ease. 

Its smart Class D design never gets hot 

and allows it to be put into small cabinet 

spaces without over-heating itself or other 

accompanying components.

with any of our surround receivers or our

Although only 1 U height in size, this 

compact power amplifier will deliver a solid 

2 x 65 watts per channel into 8 ohms and 

2 x 130 watts into 4 ohms, all channels 

driven. Since it runs cool, multiple RB-1510

The RA-1520 is a music lover’s amplifier and 

is most at home as part of a stand-alone 

stereo system. Its muscular 2 x 60 watt (into 

8 ohms) design is based upon nearly 50 years 

of our expertise in analogue audio engineering 

and it delivers all of the musical performance 

the artist intended. Subtle nuances and large 

dynamics are both rendered faithfully from 

uncompressed digital or analogue sources. 

The RA-1520 includes a moving magnet phono 

input to accommodate your vinyl collection. To 

complete its functionality, as well as its superb 

performance capabilities, there are additional

CLASSIC CD PLAYER RCD-1520 21 

CD players have been around for over 

twenty-five years and have enjoyed such 

a progression of quality that they can 

hardly be compared to the original players 

released in 1982. Rotel has enjoyed a 

class leading reputation with our CD player 

designs since the introduction of the 

landmark RCD-855 in 1990, pronounced 

by critic Lewis Lipnick from Stereophile 

magazine Vol.13, No. 7 as “The steal of 

the century!”. 

Now, with the release of the RCD-1520, we 

have produced a CD player that sets a new 

standard for the 21st century, taking full 

advantage of the vast wealth of music now 

available on compact discs. The RCD-1520 

utilises a segmented power supply with 

a large toroidal transformer to minimise 

power supply “sag” and reduce hum 

emissions. All rectifiers, voltage regulation 

components and BHC low-ESR storage 

capacitors are carefully selected, not only 

for tight tolerance specifications, but in 

particular, for their sound quality. Both 

analogue and digital circuits undergo this 

careful scrutiny.

A preamplifier must keep the audio signal 

as pure as possible while amplifying and 

routing various source signals to the power 

amplifier. The goal of the engineer is to 

achieve “a straight wire with gain” design, 

nothing more and nothing less. Of course, 

the realisation of this goal is much harder 

than it seems, but Rotel’s experience and 

meticulous circuit design has produced a 

string of exceptional stereo preamplifiers 

over the years, which has been taken to 

new heights in the RC-1580. 

The RC-1580 is designed for the hi-fi 

purist in terms of its minimalist approach 

and absolute musical fidelity. Component 

parts such as an oversized toroidal power 

transformer and special BHC capacitors, 

along with circuit topology have been 

carefully selected to obtain the best 

sound possible. For those who want the 

best of both audio and video worlds a 

unity gain switch has been included to 

enable a surround processor to feed 

straight through to the power amplifier 

thereby bypassing the volume control. 

The RC-1580 includes a low noise MM/ 

MC phono with discrete, differential input 

stages, as well as CD, Tuner, and two AUX 

inputs. The preamplifier can be controlled 

by RS-232, or IR input. A tone defeat, 

media input socket, phones socket and 

remote control is included. 

The RC-1550 delivers an extraordinary 

level of performance. Its rock-solid power 

supply is comprised of a custom made 

toroidal transformer and select grade BHC 

slit foil capacitors. RC-1070 features six 

line-level inputs in addition to a phono input 

for moving magnet cartridges. Convenient 

bass and treble tone controls allow easy 

and repeatable timbre adjustments. With 

two sets of main outputs, a 12 volt “trigger” 

jack, and a Rotel system remote control 

for both the pre-amplifier and a companion 

Rotel CD, tuner, or DVD player, the RC-1550 

brings the flexibility and sound quality of 

Rotel separates within easy reach.

CLASSIC STEREO POWER AMPLIFIERS 

Rotel has been engineering and manufacturing 

power amplifiers for decades and the two 

amplifiers presented here build on everything 

we have learned to date. Both of these models 

epitomise our Balanced Design Concept 

engineering philosophy and feature classic 

Class AB output stages, over-sized power 

supplies with toroidal transformers and select 

grade components throughout. 

Rugged, stable, and natural sounding, either 

model is the ideal foundation for a high 

performance music systems. Both feature 

12-volt triggers for remote operation and 

include an IEC detachable power cord. Power 

output configurations are 2 x 200 watts for the 

RB-1582 and 2 x 120 watts for the RB-1552. 

The on/off operation of the amplifiers can be 

remotely controlled by 12-volt triggers. Optional 

rack mount rails are available for custom 

installation requirements.

40w respectively), are all designed 

around Rotel’s legendary amplifier 

circuits, powered by ultra-stable power

The RCD-06 CD player epitomises the 

time and effort that goes into every 

Rotel product, in this case extracting 

huge amounts of detail from a CD. To 

ensure signal purity it incorporates four 

independent power supplies, UK-designed 

metal film resistors and an enhanced 24 

bit/96kHz sampling multi-level DAC.

The RB-06 power amplifier (70w) is the 

ideal partner for the RC-06 offering a high 

performance, high-power combination. 

For complete flexibility 2 RB-06’s can 

be bridged for a system powerhouse 

in excess of 180 watts / channel or 

bi-amped for the ultimate in refinement. 

An 06 Series system allows for the RB- 

06 to be added to any of the 06 Series 

integrated amplifiers both as an upgrade
