NEWSLETTER<br />
APRIL, MAY AND JUNE <strong>2013</strong><br />
In looking back at all of the stories we have done since starting this Newsletter, we have had<br />
a variety of stories from our Lancer classmates. Each one is unique in sharing with all of us a<br />
part of your lives in what you have done since graduating from <strong>Tennyson</strong>. Some of us have<br />
shared a part of our families and also a part of what we have done in the working world as<br />
well as sharing our grandchildren and the wonderful world of traveling throughout the world.<br />
We are so excited when one of our Lancers sends us a story or a short article to share with<br />
everyone.<br />
So, as many more of us are retiring from our jobs and starting a new beginning of our lives,<br />
would it be possible to just sit down and jot down or write a story of your past years in what<br />
you have done since high school It might take a little bit of time but just walking backwards<br />
and seeing what we have done and/or accomplished in our lives might show us a new<br />
beginning or start us on something that we have wanted to do the past forty something<br />
years We hope to hear from you soon!<br />

CURRENT UPDATE<br />
ROBERT CANDELARIO<br />
Class of 1966<br />
(Senior Picture)<br />
After graduation, I attended Chabot for a year. The summer of 67’ I was reclassified<br />
1A for the draft, so I chose to join the Navy. I entered into the Electronics and<br />
Nuclear Power programs and graduated from Electronics A school in 68’. Diane Knezovich<br />
(68’) and I were married in January 1969. After a short stay in the Oak Knoll Naval hospital<br />
where my right hand was operated on for a non-cancerous tumor, I spent the next nine<br />
months on a research ship based at Pearl Harbor Hawaii. Diane and I lived across the canal<br />
from Waikiki. In September, the ship’s home base was changed to Treasure Island! I<br />
received a medical honorable discharge from the Navy in October 1969.<br />
I then worked for Western Electric for five years and went back to Chabot in 1975. I got AA’s<br />
in Economics and Business Administration. I also began teaching tennis part time. My son<br />
Brian was born in October 1978 and I went to work at Lawrence Livermore National<br />
Laboratory as an Electronics Technician. In 1985 I left Livermore Lab and messed around<br />
with insurance sales and horse racing. The horse racing was a gas but when the owner<br />
passed away, I had to go back to work. I worked for an engineering company (Endecon)<br />
contracted by PG&E to manage their Solar Photovoltaic Research. I managed the test facility<br />
and performed project management for a few of the solar projects. Most of the people I<br />
worked with are now leaders in the burgeoning solar industry. I left Endecon Engineering<br />
and went to work for Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory where I am currently the<br />
Technical Manager of the Electronics Technology Group.<br />
I now live in Antioch. I play lots of USTA league tennis, golf, cycling, and skiing.<br />
I have two grown sons. Diane Knezovich (68') and I had Brian who is currently working at<br />
Va De Vi restaurant in Walnut Creek. He graduated from San Francisco State with a degree<br />
in Broadcast Journalism. He is 31.
My other son, Derek, 31 years old, graduated from San Jose State with a degree in<br />
Mathematics. Both are single.<br />
My current wife (I won't tell you how many I have had because this is the last and best!) is<br />
from Ukraine. No, I didn't go looking for a Russian bride. We met online quite by accident.<br />
We did communicate on the web and I brought her here on a K1 fiancée visa after visiting<br />
Odessa, Ukraine several times. She has been a citizen for over five years now. She has a son<br />
(31) still in Ukraine and a daughter (23) that just graduated from the University of<br />
Minnesota and is getting married next year. He is from Antioch and also graduated from the<br />
University of Minnesota in Civil Engineering.<br />
My mom still lives in the same home in Hayward we grew up in. My dad passed away in<br />
2005. All of my brothers and sisters are doing well.<br />
