Flowmaster V7 Aerospace
Flowmaster V7 Aerospace is an industry specific thermo-fluid software tool developed upon
the proven Flowmaster V7 platform. With dedicated aircraft system modelling functionality
and industry tailored component libraries, streamlined to optimise workflow, users can build
system models and run simulations quicker and easier than ever before.
Flowmaster V7 Aerospace enables aircraft engineers to optimise and validate system
designs at the very beginning of the development process and ensures organisations are
able to meet certification requirements by tracking simulation data throughout the lifecycle
of an aircraft within a secure data management system.
Aerospace Modelling Packages:
Environmental Control Systems (ECS)
Confirm that the designs of cabin air distribution systems and sub-systems will
maintain tolerable and safe conditions by simulating an aircraft’s entire environmental
control system in a single model. Accurately predict pressures, temperatures, and
flow rates by investigating humidity changes through the aircraft cooling packs
with psychrometrics modelling. Develop and simulate complete air management
systems utilising in-built components specifically designed for modelling ice protection
and bleed air systems. Accelerate the design of small aircraft systems using the
Advanced Cabin Component, specifically developed to simulate the environment
experienced in a small cabins and cockpits, taking into account additional variables
including additional heat loads and airflows both inside and outside of the cabin.
Fuel Systems
Ensure adequate fuel delivery and help meet FAA regulations by investigating
pressures, temperatures, flow rates and OBIGGS through simulation of the complete
fuel system with components such as flow junctions, advanced fuel tanks, jet
and altitude pumps, and valves. Confirm designs will continue to provide
sufficient fuel delivery during extreme manoeuvres, with an integrated
3D Coordinate System that accounts for external body forces
(Pitch, Roll and Yaw). Model for events such as re-fuelling and
emergency valve closure to predict possible scenarios such
as electrostatic charge build up or vapour cavity formation
with transient analysis.
Hydraulic Systems
Reduce the time and expense associated with ‘Iron Bird’ testing by creating system
level models of aircraft hydraulics with standard components such as displacement
pumps, pressure regulating valves, directional control valves, hydraulic
cylinders, and supply and return lines. The performance of these models can be
further developed by optimising the control of the valves and actuators with integrated
frequency domain post-processing

Flowmaster V7 Aerospace
Aerospace tailored components and modelling tools
Flowmaster V7 Aerospace provides you with an extensive catalogue of aerospace components
on top of the existing library of standard fluid and thermal components available in Flowmaster V7
including: Altitude pump, jet pumps, re-fuel coupling, flow control valve and pressure control valves
all of which are fully customisable. Engineers can fully simulate fuel tank inerting and venting with
the advanced fuel tank components and carry out small aircraft cabin and cockpit modelling with the
1D Cabin Component.
Intuitive Interface and Short Learning Curve
With a graphical user interface designed to optimize workflow through a streamlined catalogue and
performance data structure, drag and drop component placement, dynamic data filters, and data
input wizards, Flowmaster V7 Aerospace makes model creation and data input much quicker and
more accurate. With tools to assist the user in ensuring all required data is entered, V7 Aerospace
reduces the time it takes to converge on a final design that is better performing and of better quality,
thus reducing the number of physical tests necessary to perform.
Design Collaboration and Secure Data Management
Built upon a powerful industry standard relational database, Flowmaster V7 Aerospace provides the tools to enable simulation data
and models to be safely shared across the organisation ensuring that companies can preserve and catalogue essential knowledge
that gives them competitive advantage. Administration tools enable different roles to be defined within the software, so that invaluable
data can be easily accessed by appropriate people across the company in a secure manner. Trace the development history of
a project through Flowmaster’s Audit Trail technology. Design versions and associated data are created and saved every time a
simulation is run, allowing the user to find, identify and interrogate historical data, quickly and easily.
Development Process Integration
Using Flowmaster V7 open API’s you can integrate with product development tools and systems, including optimisation codes
modeFRONTIER and iSight. Automate tasks by using Flowmaster V7’s automation technologies to batch run parametric studies and
digital prototype testing procedures. Co-simulate with other leading CAE/CFD tools such as MATLAB, STAR-CD and FLUENT® to
optimise overall system performance and aid component development and selection.
What our Customers say about Flowmaster
“Flowmaster V7 Aerospace has allowed us to greatly speed up aircraft development. By front–loading the concept
and design stages of Cessna Citations with system simulation, we have reduced lab testing, ultimately making
savings on overall development time and costs.
In an industry where trust in the accuracy of results is critical to success and conformity to regulations is key, our
experience with Flowmaster has given many parts of our organisation a greater level of confidence in the accuracy
of our analyses and confidence that systems will perform within specification and in-line with digital test results.”
