Admission to the Ph.D Programme<br />
Applications are invited for admission to the Ph.D programme in the Departments <strong>of</strong><br />
English, Comparative Literature, Economics, Library & Information Science,<br />
Philosophy, Film Studies, International Relations, History, Sanskrit, Education, School <strong>of</strong><br />
International Relations and Strategic Studies, School <strong>of</strong> Cultural Texts and Records,<br />
School <strong>of</strong> Cognitive Science, School <strong>of</strong> Women’s Studies, School <strong>of</strong> Languages.<br />
Conditions for eligibility have been laid down under sub section ‘Eligibility for<br />
admission’ in Provisions Relating to Doctorate degree, Part I available on the<br />
university website.<br />
Candidates should apply in the prescribed form available on the website<br />
http://www.jaduniv.edu.in. The downloaded form is to be submitted along with a draft <strong>of</strong><br />
Rs. 500/- payable in favour <strong>of</strong> Registrar, <strong>Jadavpur</strong> <strong>University</strong> to the <strong>of</strong>fice <strong>of</strong> the Dean<br />
and Secretary, <strong>Faculty</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Arts</strong> (UG <strong>Arts</strong> Building, Ground floor), Candidates will be<br />
selected through a written test <strong>of</strong> two hour duration and an interview to be held in the<br />
respective Departments.<br />
However the candidates who have an M.Phil (Regular two year course) degree or have<br />
qualified in NET/SET/Teacher Fellowship need not appear for written examination and<br />
can apply to appear directly for an interview. A candidate who has an M.Phil degree from<br />
any university other than <strong>Jadavpur</strong> <strong>University</strong> will be required to submit a certificate<br />
from the competent authority to the effect that his/her selection to the M.Phil course has<br />
been made through a written test and that a component <strong>of</strong> the M.Phil course is course<br />
work <strong>of</strong> one year duration<br />
