BENEFITS OF HORSE
HEART RATE MONITORING
Although competitive equestrian sports are closely
monitored by veterinarians, traditionally it has been diffi cult
to determine the health status of the horse during general
exercise or competition. Until now.
Recreational owners, competitive riders and trainers alike have
begun using Polar Equine training systems to assist them with
evaluating the health and performance of their horses.
Monitor vital signs for safety
Abnormal readings of your horse’s vital signs –
namely resting, exercise and recovery heart
rates – can alert you to immediate or
impending problems such as injury, illness, or
fatigue.
Evaluate stress response to
travel or environmental change
When your horse is exposed to anything new –
travel, different terrain, new equipment, different
skills, or alternate riders – the horse’s heart rate
may be abnormally high. Heart rate gives you a
measure of how your horse is coping with change
so that you can modify the horse’s activity
accordingly.
Ensure proper warm-up and recovery
Monitoring heart rate ensures that your horse
warms up properly before more strenuous
exercise. And when he needs rest, you’ll know
that, too. This is helpful information for a
recreational rider whose horse may be in a stall
all week with minimal activity.
Track fi tness improvement
Improvements in your horse’s fi tness can be
detected by exercise and recovery heart rates.
Increase in horse’s fi tness is associated with a
reduction in heart rate at a given running speed
and a more rapid decline in heart rate during
recovery.
Measure training intensity
Intensity is the most important ingredient in any
training program. Working too hard for too long
invites injury and fatigue. Working too effortlessly
provides little training benefi t. By monitoring your
horse’s heart rate, you can adjust each activity
session accordingly.
Assess recovery during interval training
Many owners and trainers are now using interval
training to improve their horse’s fi tness, using
short but intense training sessions separated by
short recovery periods. If horse’s heart rate isn’t
restored to the desired recovery target within the
rest period, it helps the trainer know if the
program is too hard or too long.
Gauge intensity during cross-training
Many owners and trainers now incorporate swimming in their horse’s exercise program
to keep joints moving, muscles toned, and cardiovascular and respiratory systems in
condition. Waterproof Polar transmitter lets you know exactly how hard your horse is
working during swimming sessions.
ABOUT POLAR EQUINE TRAINING SYSTEMS
Polar Equine heart rate monitor is the most reliable way to tell how effectively your
horse is training. It easily and accurately measures your horse’s exertion levels during
exercise and monitors resting and recovery heart rates as well. It lets you know what
your horse is capable of on any given day under any given condition.
EQUINE HEALTHCHECK
For resting and recovery heart rate
Checking your horse’s resting and recovery heart rate has
never been so easy. Place the Polar transmitter against the
horse’s coat in the prescribed position. Within seconds you
will see the horse’s heart rate on the Polar receiver.
EQUINE INZONE
For leisure riding, basic training and rehabilitation
The Equine Inzone enables your horse to exercise within a
specifi c target heart rate zone. The heart rate monitor also
has a large easy-to-read display, simple one-button
functionality, coded transmission, and backlight.
• FT1 receiver
EQUINE RS300X G1
For measuring heart rate, speed and distance
The Equine RS300X G1 gives you all the essential heart
rate features, an Equine T54H coded textile transmitter,
and speed and distance measurement with the G1 GPS
sensor. Only by combining these three can you truly make
sense of your training.
For collecting a maximum of feedback from training
Heart rate, speed, average speed, distance, heart rate
variability (HRV) are just a small example of the information
you can view and store on your receiver and later transfer to
your computer for review.
EQUINE T52H CODED TRANSMITTER
Equine T52H coded transmitter is a fully integrated heart rate
transmitter for horses. The heart generates an electrical signal that
can be measured on the skin.
Equine T52H coded transmitter contains two electrodes to detect
the electrical signal of every heart beat and sends this information
continuously and wirelessly to the training computer. The electrodes
are mounted on a sealed transmitter that is attached to the saddle.
EQUINE T54H CODED TRANSMITTER AND
EQUINE T56H TRANSMITTER W.I.N.D.
Equine T54H coded transmitter and Equine T56H transmitter
W.I.N.D. are the new generation of heart rate transmitters for horses.
They feature textile electrodes made from conductive elastic fi bers
which adapt perfectly to the movements of a galloping horse. These
electrodes include an absorbent cushion to ensure permanent
contact with the skin and assure the necessary dampness for
relaying the heart rate signal.
EQUINE WEARLINK ® TRANSMITTER
AND EQUINE WEARLINK ® TRANSMITTER W.I.N.D.
Equine WearLink transmitter is a wireless textile transmitter that fi ts
around your horse like a cinch and is ideal to measure heart rate for
longer periods of time, for trotting and for longeing your horse.
POLAR PROTRAINER 5 EQUINE EDITION
