<strong>Deborah</strong> <strong>Egekvist</strong>, Associate Pr<strong>of</strong>essor <strong>of</strong> Flute, has been on the faculty <strong>of</strong> UNCG since 1985.<br />
She earned the BM from Lawrence University, the MM at the Eastman <strong>School</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Music</strong>,<br />
and the DM at Florida State University. Her teachers included Charles DeLaney, Joseph<br />
Mariano, James Pappoutsakis, Emil Opava, and Fred Schroeder. She has taught on the<br />
faculties <strong>of</strong> Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia, at the University <strong>of</strong><br />
Oklahoma at Norman. Active as a soloist and chamber musician, <strong>Egekvist</strong> has performed<br />
throughout the United States, Germany, Canada, and the Asian South Pacific. She has<br />
appeared as soloist with the Minnesota Orchestra, the Green Bay Symphony, the West<br />
Virginia Symphonette, the Aurora Colorado Symphony, and the Huntington Chamber<br />
Orchestra. She has also performed as principal <strong>flute</strong> <strong>of</strong> the Huntington Chamber<br />
<strong>Egekvist</strong> made her New York debut at Weill Recital Hall in Carnegie Hall. She was Artist-in-<br />
Residence for six years at both the Bay View Summer <strong>Music</strong> Festival and the Oklahoma<br />
Lit<br />
Concerts and Collage concerts, with the Elena Eckem<strong>of</strong>f Ensemble, and in many other solo<br />
and chamber music venues at UNCG and throughout the state. She has been a clinician<br />
for Jupiter <strong>flute</strong>s. Besides performing, she is working towards her teaching certification <strong>of</strong><br />
the Alexander Technique.<br />
Nancy Davis, a much sought-after accompanist, is known for <strong>of</strong>fering a varied palette <strong>of</strong><br />
colors and flare. Performing an average <strong>of</strong> 50 concerts a year, she has been heard on<br />
WFMT Radio in Chicago; in Wooster, Ohio (First Friday series); in New York recitals with<br />
Phyllis Tektonidis and Edward Bach (with whom she has released two CDs). Mrs. Davis has<br />
collaborated with many upcoming young protégés in competitions such as the<br />
International Trombone Festival; the IMA/HOGG National Young Artists Competition;<br />
the National Trumpet Competition; NATS; and MTNA National. As well, she served as<br />
one <strong>of</strong> the <strong>of</strong>ficial accompanists for the 2003 International Double Reed Society<br />
Conference. Davis is actively involved in premieres <strong>of</strong> new music on a regular basis<br />
including works by Vagn Holmboe, Eddie Bass, David Gillingham, George Kiorpes, and<br />
Joyce Suskind. She has participated in numerous masterclasses, including Martin Katz,<br />
Raaf Hekkema, and Eugene Rousseau. Mrs. Davis is one half <strong>of</strong> the duo piano team,<br />
<strong>Music</strong> By Two, with pianist Sharon Johnson. The duo has appeared in recitals at The<br />
Library <strong>of</strong> Congress, the University <strong>of</strong> Maryland, North Carolina, New York, Virginia, and<br />
Sonata for Two Pianos,<br />
including a broadcast premiere on WFMT in Chicago (PianoForte Foundation Salon<br />
Series). <strong>Music</strong> By Two is under artist management with the Scott Management Agency<br />
(www.scottmanagementagency.net). Mrs. Davis received both the Bachelor <strong>of</strong> <strong>Music</strong> and<br />
the Master <strong>of</strong> <strong>Music</strong> in Piano Performance from the University <strong>of</strong> North Carolina-<br />
Greensboro. Her teachers have included Marvin Blickenstaff and George Kiorpes. She<br />
has served as <strong>Music</strong>al Director <strong>of</strong> the Young Artists Opera Theater, and on the faculties <strong>of</strong><br />
Greensboro College, Elon University, and UNC-Greensboro. Davis is a 25 year veteran<br />
faculty member <strong>of</strong> the UNC-Greensboro Summer <strong>Music</strong> Camp.
