In the course of the regional taxonomic work on Ostracoda, the discovery of new taxa was
regularly announced in local journals, magazines, radio and on TV (South Africa, 1993-1995).
Participation in international conferences has led to TV-interviews (e.g. Russia, 2002). The
results of the work on Ancient Lakes have been reported in topical articles in Trends in Ecology
and Evolution and Science (data presented at SIAL III, Irkutsk, 2002). The results on ancient
asexuals have been exposed to a wide public on several occasions in the Belgian magazine Knack.
The paper on the Meselson effect in D. stevensoni (Schön & Martens, 2003) was described in
Nature, Nature reviews in Genetics and in Current Biology. The results of the project Manscape
on biodiversity in pools where used in the Belgian pavilion of the world exposition 2008 in
Zaragos (Spain). As a result, several interviews on the importance of biodiversity in pools were
given (RTBF radio and television).
