IN THE ApRIL ISSuE of THIRTEEN, we announced the grand 

opening of WNET.ORG’s studios at Lincoln Center, a new 

production facility and broadcast studio located at the 

corner of 66th Street and Broadway. 

We are pleased to announce that the venue has been named 

The Tisch WNET Studios at Lincoln Center. 

“The Studios are a shining example of Jim and Merryl’s 

commitment to public television in New York,” said Neal 

Shapiro, President and CEO of WNET.ORG. “Their generosity 

will help us to continue our mission of delivering media 

experiences that educate, inspire and change lives.” 

Need to Know and Reel 13 are among the WNET.ORG 

productions currently taping at the Studios, and it was also 

the setting for SundayArts’ recent Fashion Week specials with 

Paula Zahn and Christina Ha. Famed sportscaster Bob Costas 

taped intros for our local documentary series Baseball: A New 

York Love Story at the new facility, and pilots for Metrofocus, 

Vine Talk and a new film series with New York University 

Professor Richard Brown are also in the works.

“JOHN WAS IN LOVE with this city, 

head over heels,” Yoko Ono has said 

of John Lennon’s passion for New York 

City. Lennon’s life in New York with Ono 

and their son Sean during the 1970s is 

the subject of Lennon NYC (Mon 22nd, 

9 p.m.), a new American Masters film 

premiering this month on THiRTEEN. 

The film includes never-before- 

released studio recordings and concert 

footage, home movies, and exclusive 

interviews with Ono, Elton John and 

other artists who worked with Lennon 

during the last decade of his life. The 

result is an intimate portrait of Lennon 

as a devoted father, husband, activist, 

artist, and New Yorker. 

Great Performances salutes another 

legendary New Yorker in Sondheim! The 

Birthday Concert (Wed 24th, 9 p.m.), a 

JOSEPH SiNNOTT, WNET.ORG 2010 

gala 80th birthday tribute to Broadway 

composer and lyricist Stephen Sondheim 

that was one of the hottest tickets of 

Lincoln Center’s 2010 season. Hosted 

by david Hyde Pierce, it features 

Bernadette Peters, Mandy Patinkin, 

Patti LuPone, donna Murphy, Elaine 

Stritch, audra Mcdonald, and other 

Broadway greats performing with the 

New York Philharmonic. 

Finally, THiRTEEN takes you behind 

the scenes at the Big apple Circus in 

Circus (Wed 3rd, 10th and 17th, 9 p.m.), 

a six-part series revealing the joys and 

challenges of life in the ring. From the 

big top to the back lot, meet clowns, 

acrobats, and other members of the Big 

apple family who know that in spite of 

professional and personal crises, the 

show must go on.
