SPECIAL FIRE FIGHTING PROCEDURES: Wear full protective clothing and selfcontained
breathing apparatus. Water solution of sulfamic acid is strongly
acidic. Move containers from fire area if possible. Cool containers exposed
to flames with water from side until well after fire is out.
UNUSUAL FIRE AND EXPLOSION HAZARDS: May release sulfur dioxide, sulfur
trioxide, and ammonia gas if involved in fire
SECTION V - HEALTH HAZARD DATA
THRESHOLD LIMIT VALUE: To the best of our knowledge, the chemical, physical,
and toxicological properties have not been thoroughly investigated.
ACUTE EFFECTS OF OVEREXPOSURE: Harmful if swallowed, inhaled, or absorbed
through skin. Material is extremely destructive to tissue of the mucus
membranes and upper respiratory tract, eyes and skin. Inhalation may be fatal
as a result of spasm, inflammation and edema of the larynx and bronchi,
chemical pneumonitis and pulmonary edema. Corrosive. Causes burns.
SYMPTOMS OF EXPOSURE MAY INCLUDE: Burning sensation, coughing, wheezing,
laryngitis, shortness of breath, headache, nausea and vomiting.
IN CASE OF EXPOSURE: EYES AND SKIN: Rinse immediately with plenty of water.
Remove contaminated clothing, and shoes immediately. Insure adequate flushing
of the eyes by separating the eyelids with fingers. If INHALED, remove to

fresh air. If not breathing give artificial respiration. If breathing is
difficult give oxygen.
If SWALLOWED, washout mouth with water proved person is conscious. Provided
the patient is conscious the acid can be diluted immediately by drinking
water or milk. If vomiting persists, administer fluids repeatedly.
SEEK MEDICAL ATTENTION IN THE EVENT OF ANY ACCIDENTAL EXPOSURE TO THIS
PRODUCT.
SECTION VI - REACTIVITY DATA
STABILITY: Stable at room temperature. At elevated temperatures, concentrate
sulfamic aqueous solution hydrolyzed rapidly generate heat and steam.
INCOMPATIBILITY (MATERIALS TO AVOID): Chlorine, potassium chlorate, nitric
acid, metal sulfides, nitrates and nitrites, bases and bromine gas.
Strong oxidizing agents and strong bases.
HAZARDOUS DECOMPOSITION PRODUCTS: Thermal decomposition products may include
toxic and corrosive fumes of ammonia, and toxic oxides of nitrogen and sulfur.
HAZARDOUS POLYMERIZATION: Will not occur under normal temperatures and
pressures.
CONDITIONS TO AVOID: May accumulate in tanks and hopper cars. May ignite
combustibles wood, paper, oil, etc.)
SECTION VII - SPILL OR LEAK PROCEDURES
STEPS TO BE TAKEN IN CASE MATERIAL IS RELEASED OR SPILLED: Evacuate area.
Stop leak if it can be done without risk. Wear self-contained breathing
apparatus, rubber boots, and heavy rubber gloves. Cover with dry lime or soda
ash, pick up, keep in a closed container and hold for waste disposal.
Ventilate area and wash spill site after material pickup is complete.
WASTE DISPOSAL METHOD: Dissolve or mix the material with a combustible
solvent and burn in a chemical incinerator equipped with an afterburner and
scrubber. Follow all local, state, and federal regulations.
SECTION VIII - SPECIAL PROTECTION INFORMATION
RESPIRATORY PROTECTION (SPECIFY TYPE): Use NIOSH approved respiratory
protection for dust and fumes.
VENTILATION: Provide local exhaust or general dilution ventilation system.
PROTECTIVE GLOVES: Impervious to prevent skin contact.
EYE PROTECTION: Chemical splash goggles or face shield.
OTHER PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT: Protective (impervious) clothing and equipment
to prevent any possible skin contact.
SECTION IX - SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS
PRECAUTIONS TO BE TAKEN IN HANDLING AND STORING: Keep containers closed.
Avoid getting on skin or in eyes when handling product. Should be stored in a
cool and dry place. Do not store with cyanides, sulfides, chlorides,

hypochlorous acid or hypochlorites. In accordance with good practices of
personal cleanliness and hygiene, handle with due care and avoid unnecessary
contact with this product.
