Thank you to everyone for assisting in raising $2,300.00 for the: The Vada Murray Fund for Cancer Research "Appreciative Inquiry" Appreciative inquiry (AI) is a form of organizational analysis and development based on understanding what currently works well and then building on strengths to make an even better organization. In professions where people get paid to investigate the wrong doing of others AI focuses on the positive influences that can drive organizations, at every level, in the right direction. Co-written by my former professor and past president of the International Society for Performance Improvement- Dr. Darlene M. Van Tiem Captain Penny Phelps with the Monroe County Sheriff's Department in Florida. She started her career as a patrol officer and finished as the deputy chief of police. During her tenure with the police department, she taught D.A.R.E., led the SWAT team, rode a police bike, developed the Field Training Officer program, served as a narcotics officer, dove in murky waters for dead bodies, developed a Citizens' Police Academy and served on the board of directors for 14 non-profit organizations. Captain Phelps holds a Master's degree in organizational management and leadership from Capella University, a bachelor's degree in criminal Justice from Saginaw Valley State University and an associate's degree in criminal justice from Delta Community College. She is currently completing a Ph.D. in organizational management and leadership from Capella University. She currently oversees the agency's training division. She works as a part-time instructor for MACNLOW Associates and provides in-service training for police officers, corrections officers, communications officers, paramedics, and firefighters. She also teaches in both the corrections and law enforcement academies here at FKCC. BLACKHAWK! supported and attended the Building Warrior Women conference and provided event attendees with a sneak preview of the new female product line.
