Distinguished Student Scholarship - Northeast Campus<br />

Amount: Approximately 36 $350 scholarships to be applied toward tuition/fees<br />

for the following spring term<br />

Frequency: Once a year (selected in fall for spring)<br />

Criteria for eligibility:<br />

Minimum 3.0 Cumulative GPA at end of fall term; must be enrolled for at least six hours at<br />

Northeast Campus; faculty recommendation; also selection based on participation<br />

in extracurricular activities, class participation, personal motivation and attitude,<br />

and demonstrated leadership.<br />

Application date: Mid-November for following spring term<br />

Outstanding Achievement Award - Northwest Campus<br />

Amount: $100 toward tuition and fees<br />

Criteria for eligibility:<br />

<strong>Academic</strong> achievement; class attendance and participation; campus and/or<br />

community involvement; enrolled for at least six hours at Northwest Campus.<br />

Selection by faculty.<br />

Student Development Excellence Award - South Campus<br />

Amount: $150<br />

Frequency: Annually; awarded during fall semester<br />

Criteria for eligibility:<br />

Must have completed 12 semester hours with minimum 2.5 GPA at time of application;<br />

must be at least three-fourths time in spring at South Campus.<br />

Accounting/Business/Management/Marketing<br />

Global Group<br />

Amount: $250 fall and spring<br />

Frequency: Fall, renewable in spring<br />

Criteria for eligibility:<br />

Must enroll at South Campus as Business, Marketing, or Accounting major. Must<br />

be enrolled for at least nine semester hours to receive award. Must have at least<br />

3.0 GPA at <strong>TCC</strong>.

Wynn Scholarship<br />

Amount: $250<br />

Frequency: Annually (awarded in the spring semester)<br />

Criteria for eligibility:<br />

Must major or be in a program within the business division at South Campus; two<br />

letters of recommendation by a teacher, counselor, employer, minister, or activity<br />

leader; essay relative to lifetime goals; and must enroll in at least eight credit<br />

hours with 2.5 GPA.<br />

General<br />

Nan Dearen – Big Brothers/Big Sisters Scholarship<br />

Amount: Tuition at <strong>TCC</strong>. Renewable up to 67 credit hours if student maintains<br />

2.25 GPA and completes and earns 75 percent of prior semester’s<br />

hours (excluding repeated courses).<br />

Frequency: Each semester. Offered over consecutive two-year period a full-time<br />

student (12 hours minimum) or up to a consecutive four-year period<br />

for a part-time student (not to exceed 67 hours).<br />

Criteria for eligibility:<br />

Applicants must have once been a little brother or sister in the Big Brothers/Big<br />

Sisters of Tarrant County program (verification required on application). Must complete<br />

A Nan Dearen Scholarship application.<br />

Leonardo de la Garza/Northeast Campus Forensics Award<br />

Amount: Up to $200<br />

Frequency: Varies<br />

Criteria for eligibility:<br />

The uses of this award vary. Awards may be given for academic excellence,<br />

competitive participation, training, or other needs to support and promote the<br />

forensics program on Northeast Campus. Grants may be awarded to students<br />

enrolled in the forensics activities class, faculty, or support personnel. Therefore,<br />

criteria varies and will be determined by a committee appointed by the Northeast<br />

Communication Arts Department Chair.<br />

SureStart Scholarship - Southeast Campus<br />

Amount: Up to $150<br />

Frequency: Annually<br />

Criteria for eligibility:


Student must be enrolled in six hours of SureStart classes for current fall term, and enrolled in six<br />

hours of SureStart classes for current spring term. A 2.0 gpa is required to apply. An official<br />

transcript is also required. A short statement from the student describing future goals and why he<br />

or she should be chosen for this scholarship must be included with the application. Student must<br />

attach two letters of recommendation – one from a Tarrant County College faculty member and<br />

one letter from someone who knows the student personally (not a relative).<br />

Women in New Roles Scholarship Fund<br />

Criteria for eligibility:<br />

Must have completed or be enrolled in the Women in New Roles Program (6<br />

hours — PSYC 1301 and PSYC 2302). Need-based, and in order to determine<br />

need, a current-year Student Aid Report must be on file in the Financial Aid Office.<br />

Attach an unofficial transcript to application. This is a one-time, non-renewable<br />

scholarship. Money used for tuition and books.<br />

Three letters of recommendation. Statement indicating eligibility for scholarships.<br />

Criteria for eligibility:<br />

Be a full-time generic nursing student enrolled in a nursing program preparing for<br />

RN licensure; minimum GPA of 3.4 on a 4.0 scale; be a member of the National<br />

Student Nurses’ Association at time of application; participation in a leadership<br />

position at school; be respected by his or her peers and have the ability to represent<br />

the United States internationally at International Nursing Congress.<br />

through the profession of nursing; a dedication and desire to remain in the<br />

profession of nursing; recommendation by a member of the <strong>TCC</strong> nursing faculty;<br />

must re-enroll for second half of program to be eligible to receive grant award.<br />

Anyone enrolled in the program including high school graduate with 2.5 or better<br />

GPA; submit appropriate transcripts and three letters of recommendation from<br />

teacher, counselor, or school administrator, community resident other than relative,<br />

club or organization fellow member, and (optional) from aviation maintenance industry<br />

representative; brief description of personal goals, financial need, and other


information that may help scholarship selection committee evaluate applicant.<br />

Memorial Scholarship<br />

Amount: $250<br />

Frequency: Each semester<br />

Criteria for eligibility:<br />

Must be enrolled in either the Airframe Maintenance or any of the Aviation Maintenance<br />

Technology programs. Must have completed at least 30 hours in either<br />

curriculum before a student can apply. Must have at least a 2.5 GPA at the time of<br />

application and maintain that GPA for spring renewal. Must be enrolled for at least<br />

9 hours in the program and must complete and earn at least 9 hours for spring<br />

renewal. Provide a completed <strong>TCC</strong> Scholarship application outlining career goals<br />

and one letter of recommendation from a faculty member who has recently taught<br />

the student. Preference will be given to a current Southwest Airlines employee.<br />
