Fehr & Peers Scholarship Program<br />
Fehr & Peers is pleased to announce its Scholarship Program, which provides a total of up to $10,000<br />
each year to <strong>Cal</strong> <strong>Poly</strong>, <strong>San</strong> Luis Obispo students who want to pursue a career in Transportation<br />
<strong>Engineering</strong>, Planning, or Design. Typical individual awards will range from $1,500 to $3,500, along<br />
with a paid (typically $20 per hour) internship or co-op with Fehr & Peers. Scholarship recipients should<br />
demonstrate enthusiasm for transportation, possess strong leadership <strong>and</strong> problem-solving skills, <strong>and</strong><br />
show excellent communication <strong>and</strong> collaboration abilities.<br />
Selected recipients will be offered a paid internship or co-op for a specific duration, typically 3-6 months,<br />
at one of the Fehr & Peers offices. Upon completion of the internship or co-op, a pre-determined<br />
scholarship amount designated by the Fehr & Peers Scholarship Selection Committee will be paid to the<br />
recipient. This program will enable students to receive financial support while gaining valuable real-life<br />
professional experience in the transportation engineering, planning, or design field.<br />
Applicant Minimum Requirements<br />
Scholarship applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:<br />
1. Currently enrolled at <strong>Cal</strong> <strong>Poly</strong>, <strong>San</strong> Luis Obispo<br />
2. Graduate with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree within 18 months of the start of the internship.<br />
3. Major in <strong>Civil</strong> <strong>Engineering</strong> or City <strong>and</strong> Regional Planning<br />
4. Demonstrate a desire to pursue a career in transportation engineering (must be demonstrated<br />
through such things as technical electives, work experience, research involvement, involvement<br />
in student organizations, etc.)<br />
5. Achieve a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher<br />
6. Able to complete a paid internship or co-op with Fehr & Peers<br />
Application Requirements<br />
To apply for the Fehr & Peers Scholarship, please submit all of the following materials:<br />
Scholarship Application Form - Complete the application form in its entirety, including<br />
your signature acknowledging acceptance of the verification statement.<br />
Resume - Your resume should include your education, employment history, <strong>and</strong><br />
extracurricular activities.<br />
Two letters of recommendation - At least one letter must be from a professor at <strong>Cal</strong> <strong>Poly</strong>, <strong>San</strong><br />
Luis Obispo. The other letter can be from a person you know through academic, employment,<br />
or community leadership experience. Do not include relatives as references.<br />
Academic transcript - Include a copy of your current academic transcript. An unofficial copy<br />
is accepted during the initial application phase; however, an official copy will be required if you<br />
are selected during the final selection process.

Applications are accepted throughout the year on the following dates:<br />
• By March 1st for an internship/co-op start date in June<br />
• By October 1st for an internship/co-op start date in December/January<br />
• By December 1st for an internship/co-op start date in March/April<br />
Evaluation <strong>and</strong> Selection Process<br />
The evaluation <strong>and</strong> selection of prospective scholarship recipients includes the following steps:<br />
1. Applicants will be reviewed <strong>and</strong> evaluated by the Scholarship Selection Committee, who will<br />
then select potential c<strong>and</strong>idates.<br />
2. Potential c<strong>and</strong>idates will be interviewed by phone or in person for further evaluation.<br />
3. An on-site interview will be conducted at one of Fehr & Peers’ offices for the final<br />
selection process.<br />
4. An offer of employment for an internship or co-op <strong>and</strong> scholarship award amount will be<br />
presented to the selected recipients in writing.<br />
The Fine Print<br />
Fehr & Peers, at our sole discretion, may disburse more or less than a total of $10,000 within each calendar year.<br />
Individual awards are at the discretion of the Scholarship Selection Committee <strong>and</strong> typically range from $1,500 to<br />
$3,500. Scholarship recipients must accept <strong>and</strong> complete a paid internship or co-op at Fehr & Peers for a specific<br />
duration, typically 3-6 months. Scholarship recipients are subject to the terms <strong>and</strong> conditions of employment,<br />
including the requirement to submit proof of authorization to work in the United States. Anyone who is unable<br />
to abide by the terms <strong>and</strong> conditions is ineligible to receive the scholarship award. Anyone who is unable to<br />
complete the agreed-upon internship or co-op – for any reason, including poor work performance – will forfeit<br />
the scholarship award. The award will be disbursed directly to the recipient through payroll upon completion of<br />
the agreed upon internship or co-op. The award disbursement will be taxed at the individual’s payroll tax rate.<br />
Fehr & Peers may at any time discontinue the Scholarship Program, with or without notice. Fehr & Peers is an<br />
