1. ANCESTRY SEARCH. Helping one another advance our genealogy and/or family history research.<br />

2. ANTIQUES. Alison Langford leads a group who enjoy discussion and take along their own antiques to<br />

discuss & identify. If you have anything old & interesting, go along & take it with you.<br />

3. ART GROUP. Maureen will lead practical classes in learning how to use different media,<br />

starting with graphite. Own materials required. Twenty sessions on Thursdays & Tuesdays<br />

4. Who wrote the BIBLE. Jim Cunningham leads an exploration of how the Bible came into being;<br />

who were the authors and what do we know about them; and do they have anything to say to us today.<br />

5. BOOKS 1. There is no formal set programme. Members talk about books they have read,<br />

whether stimulating or disappointing. Five sessions on second Monday of month at 10am from 14 th March.<br />

7. BOTANY. Margaret Herbert leads a practical ‘hands-on’ look at a variety of plant habitats.<br />

Five sessions on second Monday of month at 10am from 14 th February.<br />

8. Basic BREAD MAKING. Marjorie provides the basics of bread making by hand – plain loaf, flat breads,<br />

bread rolls. Some tips on machine making. Four or five sessions on Wednesdays, fortnightly at 9.30am<br />

9. CARD MAKING. Lesley helps you make cards for anniversaries, birthdays, Christmas & other occasions.<br />

There will be a cost for materials, which will be available. ($2 per card - bring ruler and tape).<br />

Eleven sessions on Wednesdays, fortnightly at 9am & 1pm (2 separate groups) from 2 nd February.<br />

10. COMPUTER CHATTER. Ian Simmonds leads a discussion on your puzzling computer problems.<br />

12. CURRENT AFFAIRS. Michael Williams leads a discussion on a wide range of significant current events.<br />

13. CUSTOMS PATROL ON WELLINGTON WATERFRONT. Victor Young relates experiences as a<br />

Customs Officer on Wellington’s Waterfront. One session on Wednesday 13 th April at 10am.<br />

14. Charles DE GAULLE. Christiane Mortelier discusses De Gaulle as a writer, with special reference to his<br />

relations with Winston Churchill during WWII. One session on Tuesday 15 th March at 2pm.<br />

15. DISCUSSION GROUP. Small group meeting in homes to have a discussion on a subject of their choosing,<br />

16. Arty crafty ways with FLOWERS & PLANTS. Faith shows you odd things to do with flowers,<br />

17. FRENCH LANGUAGE AND CULTURE. Monique leads an informal friendly group for those with already<br />

18. GAMES – INDOOR. Games include – board games, cards, bowls, darts, etc. Ten sessions on second<br />

21. GEOGRAPHY OF WELLINGTON REGION. Bruce Murray discusses some aspects of the development<br />

22. Living in ancient GREECE. Matthew Trundle provides an overview of life and the environment<br />

in fifth century Greece; and an explanation of ‘from the cradle to the grave’ of a ‘typical’ Athenian farmer<br />

in the fifth century. Two sessions on consecutive Tuesdays at 10am from 24 th May.<br />

23. HEALTH ISSUES. Kathy Stone explains topical health issues, followed by questions from the floor<br />

24. World HERITAGE. Allan looks at those world-wide ‘special places and buildings’ which have been granted<br />

World Heritage status – their history and questions of their future. Three sessions on Mondays,<br />

25. The truth about HISTORY (a repeat). Tom Heaton looks at recent evidence which throws light<br />

on many historical events and characters that have been accepted as the ‘truth’ in the past.<br />

26. KEEP-FIT CLASSES. ½ hour sessions in small classes with various times available<br />

27. Social LAWN BOWLS. Suitable for both learners and those who have played before.<br />

28. LEATHERCRAFT. Gretta provides a “hands-on” programme, learning how to convert leather<br />

29. MODEL MAKING. Ray leads an opportunity to learn about modelling houses, trains, trees, landscapes etc.<br />

30. MUSIC NOSTALGIA. Nostalgic music from Alan’s collection. Five sessions on third Tuesday of month<br />

31. OPERA. Lindis Taylor provides DVD’s of interesting productions of great operas, with background<br />

and discussion. Three sessions on Tuesdays, fortnightly at 10am from 1 st March.<br />

33. Writing short POEMS. Marylynn Boyes discusses writing short poems in preparation to reading<br />

34. QUILTING. Members take whatever they are working on and exchange ideas and solve problems<br />

of a patchwork variety. The group can include beginners as help is available. Five sessions<br />

35. RAMBLERS. A time of fun and friendship. Easy walks and other interesting outings.<br />
