INTRODUCTION<br />
Background<br />
<strong>Utah</strong>ns are served by a host of <strong>state</strong> officials, departments, boards, commissions, committees, and judges, not to<br />
mention various local <strong>government</strong> units and subunits. <strong>Utah</strong> <strong>state</strong> <strong>government</strong> is extensive, varied, and complex.<br />
In fact, it is one of <strong>Utah</strong>'s largest employers, employing approximately 24,000 persons as of January 2010. This<br />
publication includes <strong>organization</strong> <strong>charts</strong> for <strong>Utah</strong>'s legislative, executive, and judicial branches of <strong>government</strong> as<br />
well as independent <strong>government</strong>al entities. As <strong>state</strong> <strong>government</strong> is ever changing, the Office of Legislative<br />
Research and General Counsel updates this compilation of <strong>charts</strong> every two years.<br />
The information in this report has been reviewed by the departments and the other major entities and reflects<br />
structures as of July 1, 2010.<br />
