beef slaughterhouse subsidiary has
been commissioned and is now trading

Meats'. As the company expanded into
pig production in the 1980's the Total
Quality Control concept was adapted
and the health of all pigs constantly
monitored to ensure good quality meat.
Pigs at the company's pig units and those
from producers that are subcontracted
to supply pigs for slaughter, are regularly
checked by Government Veterinary
Inspectors.
On arrival at the slaughter house pigs
are put into a lairage, built to government
veterinary specifications where an
inspector checks for any sign of disease.
Immediately prior to slaughter, the pigs
are screened for any sign of distress
that might adversely affect the quality
of the meat. The cleaning, dressing,
inspection and subsequent butchering
of the pigs are all strictly controlled. All
meat products are packed on site either
by vacuum or food grade wrappers. All
packs pass through computerized dating
machines that ink jet critical sell by
date information, to ensure the product
reaches the consumer in the freshest
possible state. Before final dispatch from
the plant all products are stored at 0
degrees Centigrade, having been scanned
to ensure quality and safety.
